Customs Narcotic Officials Yesterday (20) Taken In To Custody Three Parcels Sent From USA Containing Cannabis Variety "Kush "

Officers attached to the Anti Narcotic

Bureau of Sri Lanka Customs had yesterday(20) taken into custody three parcels containing Cannabis variety "Kush "sent to the Parcel section at the Katunayake International Airport in Colombo from United States .

The stock of narcotics sent on forms of a Mobile phone and a Biscuit pack on the pretext of Disinfectants had taken in to custody after no one came to clear the parcel according to Anti Narcotic Bureau of Customs.

The estimated value of the stock of narcotics taken in to custody is around Rs. 2.2 million it has been revealed.

The Narcotics parcels had been recovered according to an information provided by intelligence officers of the Customs Anti Narcotic Bureau.

The parcels were handed over to Police Anti Narcotic Bureau for further investigations.

Two Groups Of Sri Lankans Stranded At Thailand And Qatar Brought Back To Sri Lanka

Two groups of Sri Lankans stranded at

Thailand and Qatar due to the Corona pandamic had been brought back to Sri Lanka this morning  (21) by Qatar Airways and Sri Lankan Airlines flights.

Accordingly 88 Sri Lankans stranded at Bangkok ,Thailand  and 47 Sri Lankans stranded at Doha ,Qatar had been brought back to Sri Lanka this morning.

"PCR "tests had performed on these Sri Lankans and cabin crew at the Katunayake International Airport and later they have been transported to nearby hotels Until receiving their test results.

President Has Submitted The Policy Statement Of His Government To Parliament Last Evening (20)

President Gotabaya Rajapakshe had

submitted his government's Policy statement to the Parliament last  evening  (20) and told he will not hesitate to change Ministerial Portfolios of his Cabinet Ministers who are not perform well in their Ministries.

He has also stated the need to build an economy based on exports and vowed to reduce the unemployment rate
through short and long term plans .


After the last Presidential Election held on November 2019 Sri Lanka has achieved many goals including successfully containing the spread of Corona virus in the society he has stressed .

Inaugural Session Of The 09 Th Parliament Had Convened Today (20)- New Speaker And Opposotion Leader Appointed

The  09 th Parliament had convened

this morning   (20) under the patronage of President Gotabaya Rajapakshe.

As nominated by the Cabinet yesterday  (19) Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana of governing Sri Lanka Podu jana Peramuna party had been unanimously selected as the new speaker of the Parliament.

MP Ranjith Siyambalapitiya of the Governing party was selected as the Deputy Speaker post and Minister Dinesh Gunawardane is the new leader of the house in the Parliament.

Meanwhile leader of the Samagi Janabaalawegaya party Sajith Premadasa has been selected as the new opposition Leader of the 09 th Parliament.

The new Organizer of the Government is Minister Johnston Fernando and the New Organizer of Opposition is MP Lakshman Kiriella representing main opposition Samagi Janabalawegaya.

The newly elected MP of governing  Podu jana Peramuna Madura Vithana had arrived at Parliament in a boat it had  been reported.

84 Corona Positives Had Been Discharged From Hospitals Yesterday (19) And Today (20)

According to the Epidemeology Unit A

total of 84 Corona positives had been discharged from hospitals both yesterday  (19) and today  (20) increasing the total number of Corona positives discharged from hospitals so far to 2765 .

Accordingly 79 Corona positives had been discharged from hospitals yesterday (19) and 05 were discharged today (20) the unit has stated.

reported in the country  today (20)  until 8.30 p.m ,increasing the total number of Corona positives reported so far to 2918 according to Epidemeology Unit .
