Deputy Mimister Of Labour In Newly Elected Government Manusha Nanayakkara Has Resigned From His Portfolio

The Deputy Minister of Labour and
Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara of United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) belonging to the newly Elected government has today (06)resigned from his Ministerial Portfolio and joined Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe's government it has been announced.

He is a MP appointed from the National List and had sworn in as a Deputy Minister before President Maithripala Sirisena last Thursday (01).

However from the letter he had sent to President Sirisena to  inform his resig nation ,MP Manusha Nanayakkara has said that he has accepted the Speaker Karu Jayasuriya's statement on accepting Constitutionally elected government until a faction shows it's majority in Parliament .

MP has also pointed out that he has accepted United National Party leader Ranil Wikramasinghe as the legitimate Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.

Gampaha District Hospital Staff Wants Government To Take Over The Hospital To Government ASAP

The Hospital staff of the Gampaha District General Hospital (Western Province) had requested the President Maithripala Sirisena to take over the Hospital to the Central Government as soon as possible as the Hospital's Administration and services had collapsed severely as a result of not having a permanent Hospital Director for the last  five years .

The Hospital belonging to the Western Provincial Council not have the Proper Scan test and laboratory facilities even it is among the Ten Hospitals which have highest number of Hospital Admissions in Sri Lanka.

Government should have taken over the Hospital and develop it for the benefit of patiemts Hospital staff had stressed 

World's Second Largest Goods Transport Carrier Flight Has Landed At Mattala Airport

World's second largest goods Tramsport carrier Antanov AN-124 flight  has landed at Mattala International Airport last evening  (05) to get fuel it has been reported.

This is the 08 th time this flight has made the landing to Mattala  Airport this year .The plane flying from Kara chichi International Airport in Pakistan to Jakarta International Airport in Indonesia has paid Rs.9.8 million to the Airport Authorities to ger 83,856 liters of Fuel and also paid other chages it has been revealed.

The flight is  scheduled to be departed to Jakarta International Airport this morning  (06).

A Cyclist Was Killed Due To Three Wheeler -Bicycle Collision

A 43 year old cyclist was killed after the
Bicycle he was riding colliding with a Three Wheeler at Msdapitiya area in Marawila -Madampe road yesterday (05).

The critically injured cyclist had succumbed to his injuries after admission  to Madampe Hospital according to the MaraWila Police.

Train Services In Up-country Railway Line Have Been Disrupted Due To Collapsed Soil Mounds

Train Services of the Up-country Railway Line have been disrupted due to the Collapsing of Soil Mounds on to the Rail track between Ella and Bandarawela Train Stations according to the main Control Room of the Sri Lanka Railways Department.

As a result of this situation Night Mail Train travelling from Badulla to Colombo Fort Railway station has been stopped at Heel oya Train Station and the "Udarata Manike" Train travelling from  Colombo Fort to Badulla Train station  has been stopped at Bandarawela Train station .

Authorities are now being engaged in removing the collapsed Soil Mounds from the Rail track .

Ten Sluice Gates Of Parakrama Samudraya Had Been Opened Due To Rising Wafter Level

Ten sluice gates of the Parakrama Samudraya  (Tank) in Polonnaruwa had been opened as the water level of the Samudraya has  reached it's spill level due to the heavy showers prevailing in Polonnaruwa these days according to the Department of Irrigation .

People lives in near lower part of Parakrama Samudraya are being advised to be vigilant  over the floods. More sluice gates of the Samudraya may be opened  if the heavy showers continue further.

Two UNP Parliamentarians Palitha Thewarapperuma And Hesha Vithanage Arrested Over Assaulting A Retired Major

Deputy Minister Palitha
Thewarapperuma and MP Hesha Vithanage of United National Party (UNP) had been arrested by the Colpetty Police this morning  (05)after being surrendered to the Police Over assaulting and injuring the convener of "Mawbima wenuwen Ranwiruwo(War Heroes for Motherland  ) Retired Major Ajith Prasanna.

The two Parliamentarians had been released on two  surety  bails of Rs.100,000 each after being produced before Colombo Fort Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake .

The two Parliamentarians charged over assaulting and injuring Retired Major Ajith Prasanna in front of Temple Trees on last Thursday  (01).

They have surrendered to the Police through a lawyer as per the instructions of Speaker Karu Jayasuriya it has been revealed. 

Speaker Has Taken A Personsl And Political Decision -Dr.Sarath Amunugama

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya  has decided to accept the Constitutionally elected
government till a faction shows majority of support in the Parliament  as his personal and Political Devision according to the Newly appointed Foreign Affairs Minister Dr.Sarath Amunugama .

Addressing a Press briefing held at Sri Lanka Foundation Institute in Colombo this evening  (05) Dr.Amunugama has stressed that the move taken by the speaker is unconstitutional and he has no right or constitutional power legally and ethically to decide who should Be there in Prime Minister's seat.

Meanwhile addressing another press briefing the Media spokesman of United National Party Minister Harin Fernando has said now there's a no problem on deciding who will be the Sri Lanka's legal Prime Minister as Speaker has recognised Ranil Wikramasinghe as the  legal  Prime Mimister. 

Newly Elected Premier Has The Support Of Majority of 113 MP's -President Sirisena

Rajapakshe now has got the support of   majority of 113 MP's in Parliament according to President Maithripala Sirisena.

Addressing a Protest rally  "Jana Mahimaya " held in Parliamentary Round about this evening (05) to support President Maithripala Sirisena and newly elected Premier Mahinda Rajapakshe, President has said policies of United National Party (UNP)leader Ranil  Wikramasinghe are not suitable for the country and therefore he has invited both the Speaker Karu Jayasuriya and Deputy Leader of UNP Minister Sajith Prrmadasa to accept the Premier Post eight months ago .However they have denied as they could not  go against their leader .

Therefore  has no other  option than inviting Former President Mahinda Rajapakshe to accept the post which he did  President has said.

Both President Sirisena and Newly Elected Premier Rajapakshe along with newly elected Cabinet members have participated the rally .

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya Says ,Till A Faction Shows The Majority In Parliament He Has To Accept Constitutionally Elected Government

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has today said
till one faction shows majority in Parliament, He will accept the previous  condition (Meant the United National Front government led by United National Party  (UNP) prevailed before appointing the new government.

Issuing a Statement regarding the current political situation of the country Speaker has stressed that 116 MP 's representing United National Party(UNP ) ,Tamil National Alliance(TNA) Sri Lanka Muslim Congress(SLMC) and Janatha Wimukthi Peramuna  (JVP) had handed over a petition to him recently stating the recent changes made in Parliament were unconstitutional and Anti Traditional. Therefore they have requested to recognise the Constitutionally elected government.

"To stabilise the country president should help me to convene the Paiament as he has verbally promised on this Wednesday  (07)' Speaker says.

As there's a continuous delay of convening the Parliament he has no other option than accepting the request of the majority of  MP's  Speaker Jayasuriya has further said.
