Twenty Seven Suspects Of The Racist Violence In Kandy Further Remanded

Twenty seven persons including the leader of "Mahason Balakaya'(Mahason Force) who have been remanded in connection with the racist violence activities occurred in some areas of the  Kandy last March have been further remanded until 14th of May by the Theldeniya Magistrate Court today(02).

The suspects were produced before the Theldeniya Magistrate Court this morning.

The funeral of the later Legendary Filmmaker Dr.Lester James Pieris who was a pioneer to lift Sri Lankan Cinema in to an International Standard will be held at the Colombo, Independence Square  this evening (02) at 3 p.m with full state honors.

Government has announced that the funeral of Late Dr.Lester James Pieris will be held with full state honors and declared  today as a National Day Of Morning in respect of the late film maker.

From 12 noon today Public is allow to pay their last respect to the Film Maker Lester James Pieris at the Independence Square in Colombo-07,The body had taken to the National Film Corporation from his house this morning  as well to allow artistes to pay their last respect to the legendary film maker  .

Two Persons Killed Due To Three Wheeler-Bus Collision

Two persons were killed and a Three
Wheeler driver was injured and hospitalized after the Three Wheeler they were travelling in toppled over the road at devalepola in Minuwangoda-Nittambuwa main road and colliding wih a Bus this evening(01) .

The injured Three wheeler driver was admitted to the Minuwangoda District hospital for treatment.The deceassed were identified as 47 and 58 years old residents of Minuwangoda.

Police have arrested the Bus driver regarding the accident.

Veteran Singer Priyantha Fernando (Son Of Late C.T.Fernando Passed Away

Veteran Singer and son of the late Popular Sri Lankan Singer C.T
Fernando, Priyantha Fernando has passed away at Kalubowila Teaching Hospital this evening (01) at the age of 65.

The late singer has sung his father's songs as well as his own songs.

Although May Day Rallies Shifted To 07 th Of May ,Two Political Parties And Few Trade Unions Conducted May Day Rallies Today

Although the commemorating
ofInternational Workers Day scheduled to be held today (01) shifted to 07th of May by the government due to  the Vesak week,two political parties and four  Trade Unions held May day rallies in Colombo ,Jaffna and in front of the Kandy Railway station today  it has been reported.

Accordingly Leftist Janatha Wimukthi Peramuna(JVP) and Tamil National Alliance(TNA ) held their May day processions and rallies  in Jaffna and three trade unions namely  Sri Lanka Red flag party,Domestic Socialist Party and All Ceylon Trade Union convention held their May day rallies in front of Kandy Railway Station .

Meanwhile Peratugami Socialist Party has  also attempted to conduct a May day procession today and halted as the Galle Face entry road was closed temporarily from Lotus Road by the Police this noon.However they conducted the May day rally in frontbof Colombo Fort railway station.

The Health Services Trade Union Alliance held tbeir May day commemoration at Jawardana kendraya in Colombo participated by Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.The Christian Solidarity movement also held a May day rally in Colombo today.

A Foundation Stone Laid to Build A Housing Village Under the Name Of Late Filmmaker Dr.Lester James Pieris

A foundation stone was laid to build a Housing Village in the name of veteran
 Legendary filmmaker Dr.Lester James Pieris who had  passed away on Sunday ,at Julpallama village in Tissamaha ramaya area (Southern Province) under the name "senepathi Dr.Lester James Pieris village" recently.

The laying of the foundation stone was done under the patronage of Housing and Construction Minister Sajith Premadasa.

This is the 139 th Newly building  housing village under the "Udagama"prgramme in Hambanthota District and 65 the housing village in Tossamaharamaya.

Landslide And Rock Falling Threats Occurrd In Some Areas

A landslide is currently  occurring in
Walhaputhanna area in Haldummulla-Ginigathgala road  and as a result the road was temporarily closed for traffic.

The motorists are advised by the police to use an alternative routes to traval.

Meanwhile authorities have warned today (01)that there's a risk of falling rocks  at 195 th kilo meter post of Colombo -Badulla main road.Due this motorists are advised to be vigilant over the situation.l 

A Mother And Her Small Daughter Were Killed Due To A Road Accident

A mother and her two and half year old

small daughter were killed and the father and grand mother of the deceased small girl were critically injured and hospitalized after the Motorcycle they were travelling in veering off the road and colliding with a tree at aralaganwila area on Dimbulagala-Bogaswewa main road last evening(30).

The critically injured four members of a same family have been admitted to the Polonnaruwa General Hospital where the mother and the small daughter had succumbed to their injuries .

Aralaganwila Police are Conducting an investigation over the incident.

UPDATED-Cabinet Reshuffle: Same Cabinet Ministers Were Given Different Portfolios-General Fonseka Again Not Given The Defense Ministry

Eighteen  Cabinet Ministers have been
sworn in their Ministerial posts before the President Maithripala Sirisena under the government's so called Cabinet Reshuffle taken place yesterday (01). However All the Ministers Sworn in were there in the Old Cabinet too and only their posts were shuffled  .

The salient feature of the New Cabinet is  not giving the most important Law and order Ministry to the most  suitable candidate for the Ministry the Former Army Commander Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka for just to entertain the political thieves who robbed public money during the previous regime and their henchman social media supporters who are willing to share any lie spreads  on Field Marshal Fonseka.

The Names of the Cabinet Ministers sworn in are as follows.

The new Cabinet Ministers were sworn in before President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat today (01). Accordingly, 18 new Cabinet Ministers were sworn in before the President.
