Two Persons Were Arrested Over Transporting Goats Illegally In Habarana

Habarana Police  have arrested two persons who have
illegally transported 37 goats in a van at Habarana area during a vehicle inspection carried out by the police.

The goats have been transported to Polonnaruwa to Katupotha area at the time of the incident it has been reported.The arrested suspects are residents of Narammala area according to the Police.


Due To The Public Protests Dumping Of Colombo Garbage To The Dumping Site In Ja Ela Suspended For Four Hours

The residents of Dalatura area have launched a
protest campaign for the second day today (29)against dumping of Colombo garbage by the Colombo Municipal Council to a private land in Muthurajawela in Ja -Ela area.

As the protestors have blocked the entry road to the Garbage Dumping site in Ja -Ela  to prevent dumping Colombo Garbage there,a heated words exchanged between the protestors and the Colombo Municiple Council Garbage Truck drivers and as a result Garbage dumping had been suspended around 4 hours it has been reported.

Later Police teams were called to control the tense situation in the area .

Afterwards Colombo Municipal Council Garbage trucks began dumping the Garbage again to the site this evening.

GMOA To Launch An Island Wide Strike Next Week Demanding To Nationalise The SAITM"

Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA)has
today (29)decided to launch an island wide continuous strike in next week demanding the nationalizing of SAITM.

The Central Committee of the GMOA has given powers to the Executive Committee of the union to decide the  dates of the strike.

GMOA will not agree any solution other than nationalizing the SAITM the union has stated.


Colombo Chief Magistrate has Ordered The Police To Remove The Hut Built In Colombo Fort Railway Station

Colombo  chief magistrate has today (29)ordered the
Police  to remove the hut built by the members of Medical Students Parents Association on the pavement in Colombo Fort  Railway station to conduct a satyagraha campaign.against the assaulting of students who invaded the Health Ministry and demanding nationalizing of the SAITM.

Chief magistrate Lanka Jayaratne has ordered the Police to remove the hut as it blocked the pavement of
road it has been reported.

Police have earlier requested from the Chief Magistrate to issue a court order to remove the hut as it might cause a problem to the pedestrians .

A 13 Year Old Buddhist Monk Committed Suicide By Hanging Himself

A 13 year old Buddhist monk in a temple at
Aththudawa,Matara had  committed suicide by hanging himself inside the temple it has been reported today (29).

While cleaning the temple ground in the morning he had hanged himself according to the Thihagoda Police.

Some youth have shown the deceased monk the pictures of the three children including a young Buddhist monk and their father who committed suicide by hanging themselves two days ago in Hungama area ,appeared in facebook through a mobile phone yesterday (28) Police have stated.

Airport Customs Have Arrested Two Chinese Females With A Stock Of Cigarettes,Gems And Jewelry

Image result for katunayake airportAirport Customs Officers have today(29) arrested two Chinese females with a stock of foreign cigarettes ,Gems and Jewelry in their possession worth around Rs.3.5 million  at the Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport today(29) .

The two suspected  females are of the ages 28 and 35 years the Customs have stated.

Five Persons Have Been Arrested In Mathugama With 139 Fake Rs.5000 Notes

Mathugama(Western Province) Police have arrested five persons with 139 fake Sri Lanka Rs.5000  Notes at a Restaurant in Mathugama town.

As per a tip off received by the Police, a person along with 12 fake Rs.5000 notes had been arrested while he was attempting to purchase liquor from a restaurant in Mathugama and as per the information received through him Police have arrested another four suspects with 127 fake Rs.5000 notes in their possession .

The suspects are due to produce before the Mathugama Magistrate today(29).

University Entrance Application Deadline Has Potponed Due To The Postal Strike

Image result for university grants commission sri lankaDue to the ongoing Island Wide postal strike ,University Grants Commission (UGC)has postponed the date of receiving applications for University Entrance until 07th of July the Commission has announced.

Earlier the deadline of receiving the applications for University Entrance scheduled for tomorrow(30).

Due to the ongoing Postal strike around 1 million local and foreign parcels and letters have been accumulated in Central mail exchange at present and the distribution of letters and parcels within the country has been paralyzed according to the sources.

Postal trade unions have stated that they will continue their strike until their demands including halting the decision to provide post offices for a tourism hotel project and solving administrative problems in the postal department have met.

Police Have Arrested A Motorist Rugger Adviser Over Run Over A Cyclist

Image result for accident graphicPolice have arrested a Rugger Adviser of a Government School and a player after the Motor Car he was driven  run over a 53 year old cyclist  and colliding with another vehicle on Ekala-Minuwangoda road yesterday(28).

The cyclist was killed on the spot and the suspected Rugger Adviser has not stopped his Motor Car even after the accident occurred it has been reported.

The Motorists who is a resident of Kapugoda-Ja Ela had been arrested by the Police while attempting to  move away   from the scene soon after the accident  .

The suspect was remanded until 05th of July after being produced before  the Negambo Magistrate Court.

In the court the Attorney of the suspect had requested the Magistrate to release   his client   without remand him ,However Magistrate has refused  the request and remanded him until 05th of July.

Epidemiology Unit To Introduce HPV Vaccine To School Girls Above 10 Years Old To Prevent Cervical Cancers

The Epidemiology Unit of Sri Lanka is due to introduce the " Human Papillomavirus" injection to  all the school girls of the ages 10-19 under the National Immunization Programme of the country free of charge  on 03rd of July, in view of preventing cervical cancers among Sri Lankan females in future.

This Injection will be introduced to the School Immunization programme according to the Epidemiology Unit.

Nearly 1000 female Cervical Cancer  patients are being reported annually in Sri Lanka according to the statistics.

 According to the World Health Organization(WHO) Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common viral infection of the reproductive tract. Most sexually active women and men will be infected at some point in their lives and some may be repeatedly infected.The peak time for acquiring infection for both women and men is shortly after becoming sexually active. HPV is sexually transmitted, but penetrative sex is not required for transmission. Skin-to-skin genital contact is a well-recognized mode of transmission.
  • There are more than 100 types of HPV, of which at least 13 are cancer-causing (also known as high risk type).
  • HPV is mainly transmitted through sexual contact and most people are infected with HPV shortly after the onset of sexual activity.
  • Cervical cancer is caused by sexually acquired infection with certain types of HPV.
  • Two HPV types (16 and 18) cause 70% of cervical cancers and precancerous cervical lesions.
  • There is also evidence linking HPV with cancers of the anus, vulva, vagina and penis.
  • Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women living in less developed regions with an estimated 445 000 new cases in 2012 (84% of the new cases worldwide).
  • In 2012, approximately 270 000 women died from cervical cancer; more than 85% of these deaths occurring in low- and middle-income countries.
  • Vaccines against HPV 16 and 18 have been approved for use in many countries.
