Central Bank Bond Scam Suspects Had Been Further Remanded

Owner of the Perpetual Treasuries
Limited Arjun Aloysius and it's Chief Executive Officer  (CEO) Kasun Palisena who are in remand  over the Central Bank Bond Scam had been further remanded until 29th of November by the Colombo Fort Magistrate Court yesterday (21) .

The suspects had been further remanded after being produced before Colombo Fort Magistrate Court yesterday .

UNP MP Gamini Jayawikrama Perera Complained To The Police Over The Chili Powder Attack

United National Party
(UNP)Parliamentarian Gamini Jayawikrama Perera has yesterday (21)lodged  a complaint to the Police Headquarters in Colombo through his lawyers  over the chili powder mixed water attack against him by requesting to arrest the MP's who were responsible for the incident.

After lodged  the complaint, MP Perera has told the media - he has regretted over the incident and sad to see this kind of incident happened in Parliament .

The MP's who were responsible for the incident will get punishment for the crime committed  he has further said .

Three Persons Arrested With 4000 Narcotic Tablets In Possession

Minuwangoda Police have arrested
three Persons with around 4000 Narcotic Tablets of "Apple"variety in their possession in Minuwangoda Town last Tuesday  (20).

The estimated value of the Narcotic Tablets taken in to custody in possession of the suspects is more than Rs.one. 1.2 million it has been revealed.

The suspects  are residents of Kandana and Minuwangoda areas and a legal action is due to take against them. 

Welikada Police Has Commenced An Inquiry Over Chili Powder Attack Against JVP MP Vijitha Herath In Parliament

An inquiry has commenced  on
throwing chili powder mixed water and a book at Publicity Secrerary of the Leftist Janatha Wimukthi Peramuna (JVP) MP Vijitha Herath by two MP's in Parliament last friday (16) ,Welikada Police had informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate Court yesterday (21).

The inquiry has commenced according to a complaint made by MP Herath over the incident  to the Police it has been stated .

A Person Was Arrested With 300 Grammes Of "Ice"Narcotic

A 52 year old Sri Lankan has been
arrested by the Police officers attached to Anti Narcotic Unit  of the Katunayake Police this morning (22)with 300 Grammes of dangerous "Ice"Narcotic in his possession at the Katunayake Intetnational Airport.

The suspect  who is a Businessman residing in Colombo , had arrived in from Chennai ,South India and arrested near the arrival lounge of the Airport .The estimated value of the stock of "Ice "Narcotic taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is around Rs.3.5 million .

He was arrested in an earlier occasion too whilst attempting to  illegally smuggle a stock of Cigarettes sticks to the country at Katunayake Airport it has been revealed.

The suspect is due to be produced before Negambo Magistrate Court today (22)to obtain a seven day detention order for question him further over the incident  at the Anti Police  Narcotic Bureau Headquarters  . 

A Person Was Killed Due To A Wild Elephant Attack

A 73 year old person was killed due to a
Wild Elephant attack in Usgoda, Ethimale area last evening (21 ).

The critically injured person who was attacked by a Wild Elephant on the way his house , had succumbed to his injuries after admission to Ethimale Hospital. The deceased was a resident of Mayura gama in Ethimale area according to Police.

Transport Activities Of Thalawakale-Nuwara Eliya Main Road Disrupted Due To A Fallen Tree Part

Transport activities of the Thalawakale
-Nuwara -Eliya main road are being disrupted since this morning  (22)as a result of a falling of a part of a Old banyan (Nuga)tree located near a Gana devi Kovil at Malliappuwa area of the road this morning .

Electricity in the area had been cut off as the fallen tree part damaged the power lines in the area .The banyan tree is more than 200 years old it has been revealed .

No one was injured as no one travelled on the road at the time of the incident .

Police officers attached to Lindula and Thalawakale Police stations are currently involved in removing the tree part by cutting it .

Meanwhile addressing a media briefing held at Temple Trees the leader of the House Lakshman Kiriella has said they will not giving up the struggle against Constitutional conspiracy .

As the minority government has lost the no confidence motion the new appointments made by the government have cancelled 

Thirteen Tea Pluckers Had Been Hospitalized Due To A Wasp Attack

Thirteen Tea Pluckers including Twelve
Females and a Male have been injured and hospitalized due to a Wasp attack whilst plucking Tea Leaves at a Tea Factory area in  Dambethanna Tea Estate in Haputale this noon (21).

The injured Tea Estate Workers had been admitted to Haputale District Hospital for treatment. Their condition is not serious it has been revealed . 

A Group Of UNP Parliamentarians Handed Over A Petition To Parliament Secrerary Against Releasing Funds To Minority Government

A group of United National Party (UNP)
MP's have handed over a petition to the General secretary of the Parliament today (21)stating Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Minister's, State Minister and their personal staff of the new minority government have no power to control state funds as per the 148 th article of the constitution regarding controlling state funds , as the speaker has declared he has no confidence on Cabinet Ministers and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakshe   on 15th of November.

It will be illegal to release funds to pay salaries and other perks to above mentioned members from the state fund from 15th of November the Petition argues .Even releasing funds for those members to  travel abroad and to travel from Helicopters within the country from the state fund is Anti Constitutional  petition has stressed .

UNP Parliamentarians Dr.Rajitha Senaratne, Ravi Karunanayake, ,Jayampathy Wikramaratna, Arjuna Ranathunge and Mano GaNishan hAve signed the petition.

Freedom Alliance  (UPFA)MP Geetha Kumarasinghe who had lost her MP Post due to a dual citizenship she held  in Sri Lanka and Switzerland today (21)handed over  documents related to removal of her dual citizenship status to the chairman of Election Commission Mahinda Deshapriya in view of contesting in a  future general election.

Election Commission chairman is due to submit the documents handed over to him by former MP Kumarasinghe and later informed it to the media it has been reported.

After handing over the documents to Election Commission chairman ,Former actress turned politician Geetha Kumarasinghe has told the media at Election Commission office, that she will definitely contest in next General Election  from Benthara-Elpitiya area.




Minority Government Has Nominated 07 Members To The 12 Member Parliament Select Committee

The minority government of Appointed
Premier Mahinda Rajapakshe has nominaTed  07 members for the Proposed 12 member Parliament select committee and sent the list of their names to the General secretary of the Parliament today (21).

Accordingly the 07 members nominated  by the minority government were Appointed Ministers Dinesh Gunawardana,  Nimal Siripala De Silva ,S.B Dissanayake,Mahinda Samarasinghe,Wimal Weerawansha, Udaya Gammanpila and Thilanga Sumathipala .

However other parties which represents majority in Parliament opposed over allocating  the minority government the majority of members in the committee.Although other parties have opposing it  ,minority government has named 07 members which is  a majority ,to the committee.

However Speaker Karu Jayasuriya is due to finalize the members of the committee

United National Party and other parties of the United National Front government are due to.announce their members nominated for the Parliament Select Committee by this Friday  (23).

Cabinet Has Approved An Interim Account To Be Submitted To Parliament

An Interim Account submitted by the
appointed Premier and Finance Minister of new Government Mahinda Rajapakshe to fiX  the government's expenditure for first four months of next year (2019) from 01st of January has been approved by the Cabinet today (21)to be  submitted  to the Parliament  .

Appointed Premier has submitted the Interim Account until a national budget is submit to the Parliament it has been revealed.

Appointed Premier has also submitred a complete report on the current economic situation of the country and future actions to be taken ,to the Cabinet meeting held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena at President's office .

Public And VIP Galleries Of Parliament To Be Closed During The Parliamentary Session Scheduled To Be Held This Friday

It has been decided to close down the
Public and VIP Galleries in the Parliament During the Parliamentary session scheduled to be convened at 10 a.m on this Friday  (23)according to Parliamentary sources .

The public gallery was closed during the Parliamentary session convened last Monday   (19)at 1.30 p.m and only Media personal were allowed to enter .

However the session of the Parliament that day was restricted to around seven minutes as the Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri had adjourned the Parliament until this Friday. 

Passing Of Two No Confidence Motions At Parliament Against New Government Included In PARLIAMENT Hanzard Reports

15th and 16th of November had stated two no confidence motions had been passed in Parliament against the government of Mahinda Rajapakshe on 24 th and 16th of November.

According to the Hanzard Reports Speaker  has announced the  No confidence motion submitted against the minority government of New Premier Mahinda Rajapakshe on 14th of November has been passed after suspending the Parliamentary standing orders as per a proposal made by Tamil National Alliance  (TNA) MP M. A  Sumanthiran. 

At that time although Speaker wants to take a vote by name of MP's ,it fails as government MP's have obstructed it .Then the motion has been passed through a vote by voice .

Speaker has revealed afterwards no MP in the government will accept as Prime Minister  or a Minister as new government has not been appointed according to the Hanzard Reports.

MP Senanayake who had jumped to the Minority government appointed by President  Maithripala Sirisena and taken a Cabinet Post, has resigned from the Cabinet Post on 14th of November soon after the Parliamentary session has ended and told the media he has joined the new government as he  thought it got the majority support in Parliament.

As the New government still not have the majority ,He will stay in UNP Government he has stressed then.

MP Senanayake has stayed at the Cabinet meeting till the end according to reports.

Around 40 drugs including 10 Essential
Drugs are out of stock in Government Hospitals these days as newly appointed government not able to get funds to purchase necessary drugs for the Hospitals according to Health Minister of  UNP government Dr.Rajitha Senaratne .

Some Cancer Drugs also among the drugs which are out of stock Dr.Senaratne has stressed.

'Treasury Secretary has said steps will be taken to issue funds belonging to expenditure of other Ministries to the Ministry of Health to purchase drugs .However Treasury Secrerary cannot take such  action to issue funds without an approval of Parliament .Even Finance Mimister of the minority government has  not able to issue warrant order to purchase drugs for hospitals with the approval of Cabinet as Cabinet has been dissolved after passing the No confidence motion recently  "he has said .

Meanwhile Director General of Health Services Dr.Anil Jasinghe has said steps have been taken to supply drugs continuously to the Hospitals.
