Some Government Hospital Workers Are Involved In Narcotic Trade-Patients Rights Group

National Organization for the
protection of Patients rights has claimed that some workers attached to Colombo National and Ragama Teaching Hospitals are being involved in distributing narcotic drugs .

The best example for this was the  arresting of a minor staff worker attached to Colombo National Hospital with 860 Mili Grammes of narcotics in his possession by the Maradana Police recently says the secretary of the Organization Dammika Edirisinghe.

How can these workers provide their service to the patients whilst involving  in narcotic trade he has questioned .

When government is attempting to introduce A Global Health insurance policy for the Sri Lankan people ,Some Government Hospital   workers are trying to provide global narcotic cover for  the   people he has stressed.

All Ceylon Private Bus Union Has Launched A Bus Strike

ALL Ceylon Private Bus Workers Union
has launched an Island wide Bus strike with effect from  midnight tonight (09) to oppose the new fines implemented by the government against traffic offences .

However the largest private Bus union in the country Ceylon Private  Bus Owners Association has announced that the Association  will not supporting  the strike action.

Several other Private Bus Unions as well as Ceylon Bus Passangers Union have strongly opposed the strike it has been reported.

A Four Year Old Girl Child Has Died After A Concrete Pillar Collapsed On Her

A 4 year old girl child has died after a
concrete pillar which used to tied up a swing collapsed on her whilst using the swing at a house garden in Hettipola area In Kandy yesterday(08)

The deceased has faced this incident whilst using the swing with her sister it has been revealed.

Her funeral has taken place this evening at the Cemetery .

Fifty Seven Tea Estate Workers In Hatton Had Been Hospitalized During Last Two Days Due To Wasp Attacks

Fifty seven Tea Estate workers have
been injured and hospitalized last evening (08) and this evening (09) due to two separate Wasp attacks occurred in a Tea Estate at Dimbula ,Hatton area it has been repoeted.

Accordingly Thirty Six Tea Estate Workers had been injured and admitted to Kotagala Provincial Hospital last evening(08) for treatment due to a Wasp attack and Twenty one male workers attached to same Tea Estate had been injured and admitted to Kotagala  Hospital this evening  due to a similar kind of wasp attack.

The wasp attacks occurred as a result of provoking wasps in a Wasp nest built on a Tea plant of the estate.Due to the dry weather conditions prevailing in the area these days ,Wasps are getting used to attack humans to protect their nests building during this season according to experts. 

48 Hour Railway Strike Has Been Suspended

The 48 hour long Island wide Railway strike scheduled to  be launched by Five
Catagories of workers in the Sri Lanka Railways Department from midnight tonight(09)has been temporarily suspended by the Raulway Trade Unions following the discussions held regarding their demands with Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Arjuna Ranathunge this evening.

As the Transport Minister Ranathunge has promised to give solutiions for the Railway Unions demands within one month period during the talks  ,Railway trade unions comprising of Train drivers,,Raill Guards,Station Masters,Controlllers and Management Supervisors have decided  to  suspended the strike it has been announced.

Railway Trade Unions were scheduled to be launched the strike by demanding solutions for several of their service demands including Salary anomaly problem.
