Sri Lankan Government Informed The Chinese Investors To Re Commence Colombo Port City Project

Sri Lankan Government has officially informed the Chinese Investors on last Monday(14)to re commence the work of controversial Colombo Port City Project  which has been temporarily suspended by the current government earlier  it has been reported.

After solving some of the controversial issues related to the Port City Project the Cabinet has given approval for the project on 09th of March the government has announced.

Two Persons Were Killed And One Injured Due To A Three Wheeler -Tipper Collision

Image result for ACCIDENT IN WORDTwo persons were killed and one person was critically injured and hospitalized due to a Three Wheeler -Tipper Vehicle collision occurred at Hallamalle Area on Thissamaharama-Matara Main Road(In Southern Province) yesterday(15) evening.

The injured Three Wheeler Driver was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Hambanthota Hospital in critical condition.

The Three Wheeler was travelling from Galle to Kataragama while the Tipper has transported sand from Monaragala to Matara when the collision has occurred according to the Police.

Hambanthota Police are conducting an investigation on the accident.

Around 9000 To 10,000 Tuberculosis Patients Are Being Reported Annually In Sri Lanka-Chest Physicians

Around 9000 to 10,000 Tuberculosis Patients are being reported annually in Sri Lanka at present according to local chest physicians.

Most of these Tuberculosis Patients are being reported from Western Province and according to the latest statistics available  49.5 tuberculosis patients are being reported per 10,000 local population they have said.

As there is an effective treatment known as "DOT' available for treating Tuberculosis Patients, people who are having the symptoms of the disease can receive treatment free of charge through 26 Government Chest Clinics situated throughout the island the National Tuberculosis Campaign has stated,

These facts have been revealed at a Media Seminar held yesterday(15) at the Health Education Bureau in Colombo regarding the "World Tuberculosis Day".

Colombo Magistrate Court Has Issued An Order To Director Of Wild Life Department To Submit A Report On Local Elephant Population

The Colombo Magistrate Court has yesterday (15)issued an order to the Director Of Wild Life Department to submit a report on the situation  of Elephant Population in  Sri Lanka to check whether the local Elephant Population is currently is on the increase  or decrease.
The Colombo Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya has also ordered the Director Of Wild Life Department to submit a report on  people who were killed by the Elephants in recent past.

The Magistrate has issued these orders during the proceeding of a court case regarding keeping an elephants illegally in possession.

According to the report submitted to the court by Wild Life Department so far the Department has taken into custody around 13 Elephants kept by some persons illegally in their possession without a valid licence.Out of these Elephants 9 have been handed over to the Udawalawe Elephant Orphanage and 4 handed over to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.

The Body Of The Embilipitiya Youth Who Died After Confrontation With Police Exhumed On A Court Order

Image result for court order logoThe body of the 29 year old Sumith Prasanna who had succumbed to his injuries due to  falling down from up-stair house in Embilipitiya following a confrontation with police at a party house on 04th of January is being exhumed today(15) on a court order.

The Embilipitiya Court has ordered to exhumed the body of the youth  on 10th of March to conduct a second post mortum examination per the request made by Attorney General's Department.

According to the Judicial Medical Officer's Report issued last month on the death of the youth ,the death has occurred as a result of an excessive hemorrhage due to the injuries sustained to his internal organs .

The former Assistant Superintendent Of Police(ASP) in Embilipitiya has been arrested and remanded over the death of the Embilipitiya Youth.

President Has Appointed A Six Member Special Committee To Look Into Power Failure

President Maithripala Sirisena has today (15) appointed a special six member committee to make recommendations to the government on steps that should be taken immediately on Nationwide Power Failure Occurred last Sunday(13). 

The Committee which comprised of Minister Of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya ,Ministers Patali Champika Ranwaka,Susil Premjayantha,Sagala Ratnayake,and Deputy Ministers Ajith P Perera and Eran Wikramaratne is due to make recommendations to the government on how to supply electricity without failure towards the development of the country and  the day to day life of the public and how to solve issues prevailing in  the field of energy according to President's Media Division.

The First Report of the Committee is due to be submitted to the President withing one week period and the final report by  three months the Media Division has said.

Government Has Decided To Ban Cigarette Smoking Completely In Sri Lanka By The Year 2020- Director General Of Health Services

Sri Lankan Government has taken a decision to ban cigarette smoking completely by the year 2020 as  a major step to   reduce  the spreading of Non Communicable Diseases in the country according to Director General Of Health Services Dr.Palitha Mahipala.

Cigarette Smoking and Liquor have  been identified  asvthe major causes for spreading non communicable diseases like Heart Diseases,High Blood Pressure,Cancer and Cholesterol in Sri Lankan Society Dr.Mahipala has stated during a Media Seminar held at Health Education Bureau in Colombo this morning..

The Cabinet has already approved the proposal to ban Cigarette Smoking Completely in Sri Lanka by the year 2020 submitted by Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne he has stressed.

Around 500,000 Sri Lankans Got Treatment For Oral Diseases During Last Year-Dr.Jayasundara Bandara

During last year (2015) around 500,000  Persons have got treatment for Oral Diseases through local hospitals according to Director General Of Health Services (Dental Services) attached to Ministry Of Health,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine Dr.Jayasundara Bandara.

Most of these patients have received treatment for Gum Diseases Dr.Bandara has stated during a press briefing held at Health Education Bureau in Colombo yesterday(14).The Gum Diseases among School Children and  Adults are on the increase due to poor oral hygiene he has stressed.

A Heavy Traffic Has Been Reported In And Around Town Hall This Evening Due To A Political Protest March

A Heavy Traffic has been reported in and around Town Hall this evening due to a protest march conducted by Trade Unions affiliated to governing United National Party(UNP) and United National Youth Front against alleged false propaganda campaign conducted by Joint Opposition Group.

The Protest March had started near  Nelum Pokuna Theater around 2 p.m this evening and ended at Hyde Park Grounds in Town Hall.A Public Rally was held at the Grounds afterwards.

Police Have Used Tear Gas And Water Canons To Disperse A University Students Protest March In Colombo Fort

The Police have used Tear Gas and Water Canons to disperse a large number of University students who were  conducted a protest march  towards the President's House at Fort Area this evening.

The group of University Students representing all the Universities in the island had conducted a protest march towards President's House from Kelaniya Univnersity this evening by opposing  Malabe Private Medical Collage.

Due to this protest march a heavy traffic has been reported from roads in Colombo  ranging Dematagoda to Town Hall and surrounding areas which lasted few hours.

The Inter University Students Federation has organized this protest march.

Seven And Half Hour Power Cuts To Be Imposed Island Wide On Wednesday(Tomorrow-16) And Thursday(17)

Image result for power cutsA Seven and Half Hour Power Cuts are due to be imposed island wide on tomorow(16) and Thursday(17) under two catagories due to the damage occurred at major transformer in Biyagama Receieving Station according to Ministry Of Power And Renewable Energy.

Accordingly Power Cuts will be imposed for Five and Half Hour during the day and Two Hours during the night under folllowing schedule the Minister Of Power And Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya has announced.

1) 7.00 a.m to 12.30 p.m during the day and 6 p.m to 8 p.m at night time (Wednseday)

2)12.30 p.m to 6 p.m and 8p.m to 10 p.m.(Thursday)
