Assosiation Of Medical Specialists Slammed GMOA Over Influencing Administerial Decisions Taken By The Health Department

The Association Of Medical Specialists has slammed the  doctors trade union   Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) yesterday(18) over influencing administerial decisions taken by the Health Department of the Ministry Of Health on intern and post internship doctors appointments.

Due to the GMOA's unnecessary involvement when preparing the Post Intern Appointment List on last May several doctors recruited for 37  small hospitals and units which are currently not functioned  have been removed from the list in the final moment the Association has stressed.

The GMOA Office bearers have favoured their friends in the list during the transfers Specialist Doctors have stated.

Addressing a press briefing held at Colombo National Hospital yesterday the President of tbe Association Of Medical Specialists Dr.Ratnasena has stated that GMOA cannot changed a doctors transfer list which approved by public services commission.As a trade union they have violated the establishment code by influencing the doctors transfers he has stressed.

The Association Of Medical Specialists have also requested the Health Ministry authorities to remove the GMOA representative who is staying forcibly in number 7 room attached to the Ministry and influencing administerial decisions of the Health Department fron the  Ministry Room.

If the authorities are not taken any action regarding this  the Association will organize an island wide trade union action of medical specialists against it.

Ukranian Captain Of The Avant Garde Vessal Has Been Further Remanded

The  Ukranian Captain of the AvantGarde Vessal Gennady Gavrilov who was detained bytheCriminal Investigations Department( CID) on 23rd of June has been remanded until 01st of August by Galle Magistrate yesterday (18).

The Ukranian Captain was further remanded after being produced before Galle Magistrate Court.

He was detained at the Gall Harbor Police Station  regarding the charges of illegally importing fire arms to Sri Lanka  and an illegal possession of fire arns abd explosives.

The CID is conducting further investigations on the incident.

Police Have Detained A Person With 175 Tins Contains "SVS" Narcotic At Bagawanthalawa

The bagawanthalawa police have today (18) detained a person with 175 tins containes a narcotic drug "SVS" in his possession at bagawanthalawa area.

The tins that detained have contained 50 grammes of "SVS"each it has been reported.

The Ministry Of Health  has banned the use of  "SVS" narcotic in Sri Lanka which imported from India.

The preliminary investigations carried out by the Bagawanthalawa Police have revealed that the suspect had bought this narcotic from Colombo and sold to school children and gem minors in the area.


An Unidentified Gunman Had Shot And Killed A Businessman At Ambalangoda

An unidentified gunman has shot and killed a 52 year old businessman at wathugedera area in Ambalangoda todY (18).

The police are conducting an investigation to trace the identity of the suspect who fled away from the scene after the shooting the businessman.

The deceased has been identified as a resident of pattiwatta in Balapitiya Area.

Government Has Reduced The Special Commodity Levy Imposed On Imported Sugar

The government has reduced the special commodity levy of Rs.30 imposed on imported Sugar by Rs.29.75 with effect from midnight tonight.

Accordingly the new special commodity levy imposed on imported Sugar will be 0.25 cents.

Ministry Of Health To Recruit 1034 Post Intern Doctors To Hospitals With Shortage Of Doctors

The Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indeginous Medicine has decided to recruit 1034 post intern doctors to government hospitals which are faced with shortage of doctors with effect from 26th of July.

These doctors are to be recruited under the programme launched by Ministry Of Health to expand qualititive health service to rural areas.

The function to hand over the appointments to these doctors will be held at BMICH on 26th of July according to the Ministry.

Former Minister Basil Rajapakshe Has Been Remanded Until 01st Of August

The former minister Rajapakshe was detained by FCID over the charges of misappropriation  of "Divi Naguma"Department funds.

Detained Hambanthota MP Namal Rajapakshe Has Been Released On Bail

The MP who was detained by FCID over a financial irregularity has been released on a cash bail of Rs.50,000 and three personal bails of Rs.500,000 each after being produced before Colombo Fort Magistrate.

As the MP was detained for financial fraud the Magistrate has banned him from going abroad and taken his passport under court custody.

Three Were Killed And One Critically Injured Due To A Private Bus-Three Whealer Collission At Habaraduwa

Image result for accidentThree Persons were killed and one  critically injured and hospitalized this morning due to a Private Bus-Three Wheeler collision occurred at Kahawanagama in Habaraduwa Area(In Southern Province) on Galle-Matara Main Road.

The accident was occurred when the private bus traveling from Colombo to Matara has collided with a Three Wheeler arrived from the opposition end of the road when the Bus Driver attempted to over take a Lorry it has been reported.

Four Injured persons were admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital following the accident and three of the injured had been succumbed to their injuries after admission.

Former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapakshe Was Detained By FCID

Image result for detainedThe former Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapakshe was detained by Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division(FCID) this morning over the charges of misappropriation of "Divi Naguma" Department Funds during previous government.

He was detained by the FCID after recording A statement from him regarding the charges.

The former Minister Rajapakshe who is the younger brother of former president Mahinda Rajapakshe was detained over the same charges along with two other officials on 22nd of April 2015 .

He is due to be produced before the Colombo Magistrate Court this evening.
