A Severe Shortage Of 36,430 Nurses Prevails In Government Hospitals -All Ceylon Nurses Union
There's a Severe Shortage of around 36,430 Nurses in Government Hospitals throughout the island at present according to the President Of All Ceylon Nurses Union Mr.Gamini Kumarasinghe.
Although the World Health Organization(WHO) has been recommended that there should be 64,430 Nurses available in government hospitals only 28,000 Nurses are available in Hospitals at present Mr.Kumarasinghe has said.
Due to the severe shortage of Nurses prevails in Government Hospitals these days a Single Nurse need to cover the work of three nurses he has revealed.
The new entrants recruited for Nurses Training annually too are not sufficient to ease the nurses shortage the President of the Nurses Union has stressed.
The All Ceylon Nurses Union has decided to conduct a massive protest campaign in front of the Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine on next Tuesday by demanding solutions for several demands of Government Nurses including the severe nurses shortage and the establishing of the proposed new Nursing Constitution.

New Health Advisory Committee Has Appointed
The Ministry Of Health,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine has yesterday(18) appointed a 16 member Health Advisory Committee to prepare the future plans of Health Ministry by using the latest technology and to monitoring the plans.
The Health Advisory Committee comprises with former Secretaries and Director Generals Of Health Services of the Health Ministry.

Around 25 School Children Attached To A Primary School In Bagawathalawa
Around 25 School Children attached to the Primary School in Bagawanthalawa Area(In Central Province) have been hospitalized yesterday(18) due to a food poisoning.
The School Children had fallen sick and shown symptoms like vomiting,fainting and stomachache after consuming the morning meals provided by School .
The Bagawanthalawa Police are conducting an investigation on the incident.

Center For Policy Alternatives Has Filed A Fundemental Rights Petition At Supreme Court Against The Appointment Of Field Marshal Sarath Foneka As MP
The Center For Policy Alternatives(CPA) has today(18) filed a fundamental rights petition at Colombo Supreme Court seeking an order to cancel the decision to appoint former Army Commander Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka as a member of parliament.
The petition which was filed by CPA through an Attorney has named the General Secretary Of the United National Party(UNP) Kabir Hashim ,MP Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka,The Speaker Karu Jayasuriya the Elections Commissioner Mahinda Dehapriya and Attorney General as respondents of the case.
The Governing United National Party has appointed the Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka to the national list seat left vacant after the death of fomer Minister Of Lands M.K.A.D.S Gunawardena.Field Marshal Fonseka has taken oath before Parliamentary Speaker as a MP in the Parliament on 09th of February.

A 15 Year Old Elephant Allegedly Kept by Former MP Sajin Vaas Gunawardena Has Been Taken In to Custody.
A 15 year old Elephant allegedly kept by former MP of the United Peoples Freedom Alliance(UPFA) Government, Sajin Vaas Gunawardene has been taken in to custody by officials of the Wild Life Department today(18).
The Elephant has been taken in to custody by the Police due to a permit problem the sources have said.
The Elephant had been kept at the Hirewatta Buddhist Temple in Ambalangoda(In Southern Province) over the years and former MP Sajin Vaas Gunawardena has hired a mahout to take care of the Elephant for past ten years sources have revealed.
The Elephant in custody is due to be handed over to the Uda Walawe Elephant Home.

One Of The Three Helium Filled Balloons Belonging To Google Project Had Fallen Down In Pupurassa Area
One of the three Helium Filled Balloons belonging to the Internet Giant Google's Leon Free Hi Speed Internet Project which entered Sri Lankan Air Space on Monday had fallen down in Pupurassa Area of Gampola District(In Central Province) last night according to the Police.
Residents of the Pupurassa Area where the Balloon fell down have handed over the balloon with it's gadgets to the Gampola Police last night.
The internet giant Google has struggled to find the right balloon design both could be durable and inexpensive to float and navigate to travel through the stratosphere local experts who are involved with the project have said.

The Excise Department Officials have arrested Three Persons with a stock of over 800 Bottles of illegally imported Foreign Liquor in their residence at Narahenpita(In Colombo) during a raid carried out today(18).

Germany To Provide A Grant Of 14 Million Euros For Sri Lanka
The German Government intends to grant 14 Million Euros for Sri Lanka as the technical corporation for continuing the ongoing progerammes and projects in 2016 it has been announced yesterday (17)during the Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena's tour to Germany .
Under this grant 2.4 Million Euros will be provided for the development of small and medium scale enterprises in Sri Lanka ,4 Million Euros for utilizing vocational taring project in North and East ,6 Million Euros for assist the national park and buffer zones management in Wilpattu and another 0.6 Million Euros will be provided for initiatives of government and non governmental sectors.
German Government has decided to provide another 1 Million Euros for Sri Lanka as a Special Project Grant .
Meanwhile several Memorandums Of Understanding(MOU) have been signed between Governments of Sri Lanka and Germany in Berlin yesterday.
