Three Arrested And Remanded Over Revealing White Van Abductions Financing A Press Briefing On The Issue Released On Bail

had yesterday(06)ordered to release two suspects arrested and remanded over revealing white van abductions during a press briefing and former Chairman of State Pharmaceutical Corporation (SPC) Mohommad Rumi who were arrested and remanded over financing the press briefing ,on bail

The two suspects of the ages 45 and 46 years old arrested and remanded over revealing white van abductions and former SPC  chairman Rumi arrested snd remsnded over financing a press briefing on white van abductions  had been released on two surety bails of Rs.500,000 each .

The complaint against the released individuals had taken up for hearing yesterday at Colombo Magistrate court .

However Chief Magistrate had imposed  an overseas travel ban on the released imdividuals .

By granting bail to the above persons Chief Magistrate has told all three were arrested without conducting a proper inquiry over the charges levelled against them .

Hoowever the Deputy solicitor General Dileepa pieris who had appeared before the court on behalf of Attorney General 's Department had raised objection against granting bail by saying granting bail to all the suspects may hampered ongoing investigations agsinst them .

Agriculture Department To Stop Importing Of Sorghum And Peanuts To The Country

Agriculture Department  has decided to
stop the importing of Sorghum  and Peanuts to Sri Lanka with effect from 15th of January according to the Department .

This step will be taken to protect local Sorghum  and peanut farmers as their harvest is scheduled to be released to the local market soon the director of Agriculture Department W.M W Weerakoon .

A Person Was Arrested With A Haul Of Heroin At Kotahena

Police officers attached to Colombo
Central Division Anti Corruption Unit had arrested a person at 131 watta area in Jampata Street ,Kotahena last evening (06)with 03 Grammes and 300 Mili grammes of Heroin in possession .

The suspect who is a resident of the area had hamded over along with the haul of Heroin to Keselwatta police for further investigations .

The suspect is due to be produced before the Maligakanda Magistrate court today (07) to obtain a detention order to question him further over the incident .


Another 24 Hour Long Water Cut Implemented In 10 Areas Of Colombo

A 24 hour long water cut has been
implemented shortwhile ago at 9 a.m until 9 a.m tomorrow (08) in 10 areas of Colombo  District including Maharagama and Boralesgamuwa due to a maintainace work of the main supplying line supplies water from Kalatuwawa to Maharagama according to Nationsl Water Supplies and Drainage Board .

Accordingly this trend of unusual long hour water cuts which put people in difficulty has been implemented this time in Maharagama ,Boralesgamuwa ,Kottawa,Palanwatte,Rukmalgama,Pannipitiya ,Mattegoda,Meepe ,Padukka and Homagama areas the Water Board has announced .

Around 12 Passangers Had Been Killed And 50 Injured Due To A Falling Of A Bus Down A Precipice

Around 12 passangers had been killed
and 50 others had been injured and hospitalized after the CTB bus they were travelling in fallen down a 200 feet deep precipice near the 06 th post on Passara-Madolsima road today (06)

The injured had been admitted to Passara and Badulla hospitals for treatment .

Residents and Police had taken steps to transport the recovered passangers inside the bus to hospitals .

The incident occurred when the Bus driver had attempted to allow the space in the road to a lorry it has been revealed.

Madolsima Police are conductinng an investigations on the incident.
