Cabinet Approved A Proposal On Banning Importing Of Mechanical Saws

Cabinet has approved a proposal to ban
importing mechanical saws to the Country yesterday  (18).

President Maithripala Sirisena who is also the Minister of Enviornment had submitted the proposal to the Cabinet. 

Five Persons Killed Due To A Hand Tractor -Van Collision

Five Persons including four females
had been killed and Twelve others had been injured and hospitalized due to a Hand Tractor -Van Collision Occured at Sewanapitiya in Welikanda area of the Polonnaruwa -Batticaloa main road this morning  (19).

The Deceased were of the ages 29,30,35,55 and 60 years and travelled in the Hand Tractor it has been revealed.


The incident occurred when the High spoed van collided with the rear part of   Hand Tractor carried a group of persons who were returning home after visiting a Procession in Dimbulagama area.

As a result the Hand Tractor crashed into a nearby shop it has been reported .

Welikanda Police have arrested the Van driver regarding the incident.

Five Catagories Of Railway Employees Due To Launch An Island Wide Strike Today (19)

Five categories attached to Sri Lanka
Railways Department Engine Drivers ,Station Masters ,Guides ,Controllers and Inspecting Managers are scheduled to be launched an Island Wide Railway Strike with effective from midnight tonight  (19)according to Railway Trade Unions .

The strike is scheduled to be launched demanding the implementation of 
  Cabinet Paper approved by the Cabinet on 16th of May 2018 regarding the removal of salary anomalies of five Railway employee categories. 

Ministry Of Finance Had Instructed All Ministries To Cut Down Expenditure By 15 Percent

Ministry Of Finance had instrutted all
Ministries to cut down their Capital expenditure by 15 percent according to Government sources .

Ministry of Finance had issued a circuler regarding this to All Ministry Secretaries and they were informed on this earlier during a meeting held at the Finance Ministry it has been reported .

The main reason behind this decision is the decrease of Expected government income after the Easter Sunday attacks .

A Nine Hour Water Cut To Be Implemented In Vavuniya Today (19)

A nine hour water cut from 9.a.m to 5.p.
m today (19)is scheduled to be implemented in Vavuniya and surrounding areas according to National Water Supplies and Drainage Board.

The water cut will be implemented due to the connecting of the pipe line supplies water to Vavuniya with the main pipe line Water Board has announced.

Two Petitions Submitted By Gotabaya Rajapakshe Against His Legal Case Had Dismissed by Court Of Appeal

Two member Judge Panel of the Court
Of Appeal had today (18)dismissed two petitions submitted to the Appeal Court by Former Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapakshe against the case currently being heard over Building of D,A Rajapakshe Museum by using public funds without taken up for hearing  .


The two judges Achala Vengappuli and Arjuna Obeysekare had dismissed these petitions .

The case against Former Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapakshe is being heard  by A Three Member High Court Judge Panel. 

Cabinet Meeting Was Held Under The Patronage Of President Today (18)

Cabinet meeting was held under the
patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena today (18) At 11 a.meeting after a lapse of one week it has been reported .

However today's Cabinet meeting was restricted to discuss on Cabinet papers submitted to it .

President Sirisena had not convened the Cabinet last Tuesday (11)as a protest against the activities of Parliamentary Select committee proving Easter Sunday attacks .

Earlier on 07th of June president had convened a special Cabinet meeting and revealed that he will not attend Cabinet Meetings If the government not taking any step to stop activities of  Parliamentary Select committee proving Easter Sunday attacks.

However after his visit to Tajikistan recently he has changed his stand regarding boycotting Cabinet Meetings.

The acting Ministers appointed for the Ministerial Portfolios of former Muslim Ministers Rauf Hakeem, Rishad Baduideen and Kabir Hasheem ,namely Lucky Jayawardana ,Buddhika Pathirana and Anoma Gamage have also participated in today's Cabinet meeting .

Kaththankudy Police OIC And Former OIC Had Given Evidence Before Parliamentary Select Committee Probing Easter Sunday Attacks

Thirteen suspects who had been
arrested over Easter Sunday attacks  were appeared before the Attacks in Kaththankudy Police  (Batticaloa)once a month over involved in a brawl with A group of Sunni Muslims according to OIC Of Kaththankudy Police Chief Inspector M.D Kasturiarachchi .

Kaththankudy Police OIC had revealed this today (18)by giving evidence before the parliamentary Select Committee  probing Easter Sunday attacks at Parliament complex.

According to Polive OIC Police have arrested 07 suspects involved in a brawl at Kaththankudy between. Thowheeth Jamaath Organization leader Mohommad Zahran and a group of Sunni Muslims in 2015.

However Zahran had escaped from Police after the incident it has been revealed .

When the Committee member Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka had questioned the OIC Why he had failed to carry out a proper investigations over the suspect's at that time OIC became speechless it had been reported.

Former Kaththankudy Police OIC Ariyabandu Vedagedara had also appeared before the Committee and gave evidence today .

The Select Committee had   meet for the fifth time today .

A Cyclist Was Killed Due To A Vehicle Collision

A 56 year old Cyclist had been killed
after the Bicycle he was riding in colliding with an Ambulance transporting a patient at Urgasmanhandiya area in Elpitiya this noon (18).

The deceased was identified as a resident of Lenagalpathana area,Urgasmanhandiya .

Urgasmanhandiya Police have arrested the Ambulance driver regarding the incident.
