President Mahinda Rajapaksha today appointed Army Commander Lt.General Sarath Fonseka who guided the Military Victory over LTTE as the New Chief Of Defense Staff,and other Military Chiefs involved in Battle field Major General Jagath Jayasooriya as the New Army Commander,Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda as an National Security Advisor to the President and Admiral Thisera Samarasinha as the New Navy Commander.The Appointment of New Chief Of Defense Staff was made under the powers vested to the President under the Chief Of Defense Staff Act No.35 of 2009.All these Appointments will come to effect from 15th of July.All the New Appointees were handover their Appointments today at the President'S House in Colombo.
Meanwhile the Present Chief of Staff of the Sri Lankan Army and Competent Authority for the Internaly Displaced Persons Major General G.A Chandrasiri appointed as the New Governor of the North Central Province and the Present Governor Mr.Dixon Dala is appointed as the Sri Lankan High Commissioner In Maldives with effect from today.
