A Swedish National Has Died In A Swimming Pool
A 24 year old Swedish National has died after lying in an unconscious situation in a Swimming Pool of a Hotel in Kamburugamuwa ,Matara (Southern Province) it has been reported.
The Swede who was pronounced as dead after admitting to the Matara General Hospital.
Kotawila Police are conducting an investigation on the incident.

Excise Department Officials Have Arrested A Person With Illegal Stock Of Tobacco Leaves
The excise department officials have yesterday(08) arrested a person with a stock of Tobacco Leaves illegally imported from India and stored in a store at Akkaraipattu area .
The estimated value of the stock is around Rs.30 million it has been revealed.The Tobacco Leaves believed to be transported to Sri Lanka from India via sea route.

A Heavy Traffic In Colombo -Katunayake Main Road Due To A Protest

Attorney General Opposes Granting IBail To Imprisoned Former DIG Anura Senanayake
Attorney General has today
(08)informed the Colombo High Court that he opposes the granting of bail to Former senior Deputy Inspector General Of Police (DIG)Anura Senanayake who is in remand prison over the murder of former Sri Lankan Rugby player Wasim Thajudeen .
The decision of the Attorney General was informed during the court proceedings held today (08)at Colombo High Court to consider the bail application submitted by imprisoned former DIG Anura Senanayake.
The senior state attorney dilan ratnayake has urged the court that if the court granted bail for the former DIG Senanayake who hide the evidences of former rugby player's murder it will impact the witnesses.
The court has postponed the case until 07th of April.

Consumer Affairs Authority To Issue A Gazette Notification In Midnight Tonight Regarding Fixing Maximum Retail Prices For Rice
The consumer affairs authority is due to
issue a gazette notification regarding fixing of maximum retail price (MRP) for three varieties of rice with effect from midnight tonight .
Accordingly the maximum retail price of a kilo of Nadu Rice will be RS.72, a kilo of raw rice RS.70 and a kilo of Samba rice(excluding Keeri and suduru samba)Rs 80 .
The gazette notification will be issued under the extraordinary gazette 2005/24/.
