Water Board Employees Have Launched Three Day Island Wide Strike
The employees attached to the Water Supplies and
Drainage Board had today (05)launched a three day Island Wide strike by demahding solutions for ther demands mainly regarding salary anomalies according to the Water Board Joint Trade Union Alliance.
The Trade Union Alliance had launched the strike after failed to find a solution during yesterday's(04) talks held with the subject Mimister Rauf Hakeem.
Due to the strike there may be an interruptions when settling Water Bills ,the Board has stated.

Two Police Officers Were Arrested With One Gramme Of Heroin
Katugasthota Police have arrested two Police Officers
attached to the Gampola Police with a one Gramme of Heroin in their possession in Katugasthota area.
The two suspected Police Officers were arrested while transporting the haul of Heroin in a Three Wheeler according to the Police.
The suspects are due to be produced before the Court and question under police detention the Police Media Spokesman's office had stated.

A Sudden Fire Erupted In A Textile Shop At Colombo Fort Was Doused
A sudden fire erupted in a Textile shop at Main Street
in Colombo Fort early this morning (05)was doused by the Colombo Fire Brigade officials with the assistance of Residents and Police.
No casualties have been reported due to the incident and the damage occurred due to the fire not yet been revealed.
The cause of the fire has not yet been revealed either according to the Police.

Government Hospital Radiographers To Launch An Island Wide Token Strike On Wednesday
Government Radiographers are due to launch an
islandwide one day token strike on this Wednesday (07)by demanding to solve three of there service demands.
This strike will be launched by demanding solutions for three demands including suspending the handing over of official work belonging to Radiographers to other employees according to the secretary of the Government Radiography Technologists Union Dharmakeerthi Epa.

Four Youth Were killed And Six Others Injured Due To A Train-Lorry Collision
Four youth who were travelling on the footboard of a
train running from Colombo to Kalutara South were killed and six others were injured and hospitalized after they had collided with a parked Lorry near the Lunawa bridge ,Moratuwa this evening (05).
The injured one of them critically were admitted to the South Colombo (Kalubowila)Teaching Hospital for treatment.
Three out of the four youth who were killed due to the incident were killed on the spot and other had succumbed to his injuries while taking to the hospital.
All those killed and injured collided with the parked Lorry after one youth who had fallen due to his backpack bag collided with the lorry it has been revealed.

A Person Was Killed Due To A Road Accident
A person was killed and another two were injured and hospitalized after the Cab they were traveling in falling down in to a 80 feet deep precipice at Badulla -Thelbaddawatte road yesterday(04).
The injured were admitted to the Badulle General Hospital for treatment.The deceased was a resident of Passara in Badulla.

The All Party Leaders met at the Parliamentary Premises today(05) under the patronage of Speaker Karu Jayasuriya have decided to extended the Parliamentary Debate scheduled to be held tomorrow(06) on the Central Bank Bank Bond Scam and Serious Fraud And Corruption Commission reports for another two days on 20th and 21st of February.

Excise Department Had Suspended The Production Activities Of Liquor Company W.M Mendis And Limited Owned By Perpetual Treasuries
The Excise Department had suspended the production activities of the Manufacturing Plant attached to Liquor Company W.M Mendis And Limited in Welisara owned by the owner of Perpetual Treasuries Arjun Aloysius who is in remand ,since a week over non payment of Taxes by the company.
Due to the suspension of Production activities the temporary workers attached to the Company have lost their jobs it has been reported.
Although the production activities of the manufacturing plant of W.M Mendis Distilleries Limited suspended ,the distribution of produced liquor stocks belongs to the Company and office work are still continues it has been revealed.
Meanwhile
the Newspapers published by the Perpetual Treasuries have also
suspended printing the papers since a week according to the reports.

Perpetual Treasuries Owner And Chief Executive Officer Have Been Further Remanded Until 16th Of February
of the Company Kasun Palisena who were arrested and remanded yesterday (04) over their involvement in Central Bank Bond Scam have been further remanded until 16th of February by the Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne today(05).

The two chief suspects of the Central Bank Bond Scam were arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department(CID) which investigation on the Bond Scam yesterday and they were remanded until today(05) by the Colombo Fort Magistrate .
The suspects were remanded further today after being produced them before the Court again today(05).
Both Arjun Aloysius and Kasun Plaisena were arrested by the CID as per a complaint made by current Central Bank Governor Indarajith Coomaraswamy in 2016.
As per the request made by the lawyer of the suspects President's Counsel Kalinga Indrathissa ,The Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne has today ordered to submit the bail applications behalf of the suspects to the court in written within two days.
The court case against the suspects is due to hear on 07th of February.
