Singer Chilie Has Been Released On Bail

Singer Vidusha Thilanka alias "Chilie" who was arrested and remanded two  over assaulting a Three Wheeler driver has been released on bail today(25) by the Kaduwela Magistrate.

He was released on a personal bail of Rs.500,000 and a cash bail of Rs.10,000 after been produced before Kaduwela Magistrate Court this morning.

The singer had reported as assaulted a 57 year old Three Wheeler driver two weeks ago at Palawatta,Battaramulla following an argument with him.After the assault the driver was admitted to the Thalangama Hospital with minor injuries and later he had lodged a complaint at Police over the incident .

Around 200,000 Stroke Patients are there in Sri Lanka at present according to the Consultant Neuro Surgeon and the head of the Stroke Unit of the Colombo National Hospital Dr.Padma Gunaratne.

Majority of Sri Lanka's current disabled population of  3 million had become disabled due to the stroke she has stressed.

High Blood Pressure ,High Cholesterol,Diabetes,Smoking,Consuming Alcohol,Obesity,irregular heart beat,physical inactivity and unhealthy diet are identified as the main causes for getting a Stroke and the main symptoms of the disease are 1)Facial Drooping-a section of the face usually only on one side that is drooping and hard to move.This can be recognized by a crooked  smile.2) Arm Weekness- The inability to raise one'arm fully, 3)Speech Difficulties- An inability or difficulty to unferstand or produce speech Dr.Gunaratne has stated.

"If any of the above symptoms are showing time is of the essense,call the emergancy services or go  to the hospital "she has urged while addressing a media seminar held on "Stroke" at the Health Education Bureau yesterday (24) morning.

Consuming of Alcohol is one of the major risk factors caused the Stroke and according to a latest study it has been revealed that a person who consumes more than two glasses of liquor per day may increase stroke risk by 50% Dr.Gunaratne has revealed.

Supreme Court Has Postponed The Hearing Of The Fundemental Rights Petition Filed By Former Chief JMO Until February Next Year

The Supreme Court has yesterday (24) decided to postponed the hearing of the fundamental rights petition filed by former Chief Judicial Medical Officer in Colombo Dr.Ananda samarasekera requesting the court  to prevent arresting him regarding the murder of former Sri Lankan Rugby Player Wasim Thajudeen until 08th of February2017.

The court has decided to postpone the hearing of this case until the verdict is given in a revised bail application filed by Dr.Samarasekera at Colombo High court which is being heard.

THe Court Case Against MP Geetha Kumarasinghe To Be Taken Into Consideration In January 2017

The Appeals Court has today (24) decided to taken into consideration the petition  filed by a group of Residents in Galle District requesting the Court to issue an order to abolish the Parliamentary Seat of Actress turned politician MP Geetha Kumarasinghe on 17th and 24th of January 2017.

The petition has requested court to issue an order to abolish MP Geetha Kumarasinghe 's Parliamentary Seat as she holds a dual citizenship in Switzerland .

According to the newly passed  19th amendment of the Sri Lankan Constitution  a local citizen who holds a dual citizenship in another country cannot contest in a local election.

One Person Was Killed Due To A Road Accident Involved In The Vehicle Belonging To A Minister's Wife

One person was killed at Kotavehera area  in Anamaduwa (North Western Province) few hours ago as a Land Cruiser Vehicle belonging to the wife of  Minister Range Bandara knocked him down it has been reported.

Anamaduwa Police had arrested the driver of the vehicle regarding the accident.At the time of the accident Minister Range Bandara's son was also in the vehicle along with  the driver according to the reports.

Telecasting Licence Of CSN Channal Has Been Cancelled

The telecasting license of Private Local Sports Channal "CSN" Network (Carlton Sports Network)belonging to Yoshitha Rajapakshe the second son of former president Mahinda Rajapakshe has  been cancelled with immediate effect according to the Ministry Of

Media.The Controversial Channal had received  the telecasting license  on 03-03-2011.

Media Ministry has today (24)sent a letter to the director of CSN Channal Rohan Weliwita informing the decision on cancellation of the licence. 

Socialist Youth Union Has Lodged A Complaint At Bribery Commission Against Minister Sajith Premadasa

The socialist Youth Union has today (24)lodged a complaint against Minister Of Housing And Construction Sajith Premadasa at the Bribery Commission by claiming that the Minister has used his Ministry  Vacancies for his personal gain by going against the law.

A video clip of Minister Premadasa has recently leaked online and it shows that he is ordering  his staff to write letters to other Ministries and instructing his staff to provide security and labour jobs for persons based on tneir heights.

Regarding the Video Clip Minister Premadasa has stated that he was trying to address the unemployment issue in Hambanthota District.

Representatives Of All Ceylon Private Pharmacy Owners Union And Drug Traders Association To Corporate The Selling Of 48 Price Reducted Drugs For Reduced Prices

The representatives  of All Ceylon Private Pharmacy Owners  Union and Drug Traders Association had met the chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Independent Drug Regulatory Authority today(24) and assured that they will corporate the  implementation of   Gazette Notification issued by the Minister of Health last Friday by reducing prices of 48 varieties of essential drugs in the market.

During the meeting the Representatives had also informed the chairman of the Drug Regulatory Authority Professor Asitha De Silva and Chief Executive Officer of the Authority Dr.Kamal Jayasinghe that they are facing difficulties when implementing the reduced Drug Prices as Companies importing Drugs to Sri Lankan not taken steps to withdraw the previous stocks of drugs issued to them and issue a fresh stocks of drugs marked with reduced prices .

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Drug Regularity Authority had promised the representatives of All Ceylon Private Pharmacy Owners Association and Drug Traders Association to solve their problem through discussion with Drug Importing Companies under the instructions of Health Minster.
