A Person Was Arrested With A Stock Of Conch Shells

A 47 year old person was arrested by 
the Intelligance Officials attached to Thambapanni Naval Base and fisheries officers who had hidden around 2000 Conch shells in his garden to sell them illegally today (13) at Baththuluoya area.

The suspect who is a resident of mundalama area is due to be produced before the Puttalam Magistrate  Court .

The stock of Conch shells  recovered in the garden of the suspect had been identified as rare ones .

The stock of Conch Shells is currently at office of Puttatam Assistant Director of Fisheries it has been revealed.

A Motorcyclist Was Killed Due To Motorcycle -Car Collision

A 24 year old Youth Motorcyclist was

killed after the Motorcycle he was riding colliding with a Motor Car when attempting to overtake several vehicles at Nelliadi-Maley junction today (13).

The critically injured youth was admitted to Mandikal Hospital for treatment  and had succumbed to his injuries after transferring  to Jaffna Hospital for further treatment.

The deceased was a resident of Kopai area.

Nelliadi Police had arrested the Motor Car driver regarding the accident.

Transport Activities Of Hatton-Solankanda Main Road Had Been Stopped Due To A Soil Mound Collapse

Transport activities had been
completely stopped on Hatton -Solankanda main road due to a Collapsing of a Soil Mound to the main road in wee hours of this morning (13).

The Soil Mound had collapsed in to the main road from Hadley watte area in the hills as a result of the heavy showers prevailing in Western slope area of Central Hills according to reports.

Due to the situation around 30 families resided in a line houses at upper area of Hadley watta had been moved to safe places according to authorities.

The collapsed Soil Mound had been removed by the Road Development Authority .

Nearly 30 Female Prisoners Had Launched A Protest Campden At Roof Top Of Welikada Prison



Nearly 30 female Prisoners who are being remanded in Welikada Prison over drug Smuggling charges are in protest at the roof top of Welikada Prison since this morning (13)by demanding solutions for two of their  demands .

During the protest four protesters  had been injured and admitted to Prison Hospital as a result of a clash occurred among two groups of female Prisoners it has been revealed.

The protesting female Prisoners are demanding to end their course cases soon and provide them sufficient facilities in Prison according to reports.

Meanwhile members of Prison Inmates Rights Protection Committee had also staged a protest in front of the Prison to support the protesters.
