Ten Persons Were Arrested While On The Way To Worship "Sripada" With Stock Of Cannabis And Cigarettes

Police Officers attached to Anti Fraud Unit of the
Hatton Police have atrested 10 persons who were on the way to worship historical "Sri Pada" by carrying a stock of Cannabis and Cigarettes illegally at Diyagala area on last Saturday (23).

Police have taken in to custody around 11,000 mili grammes of Cannabis and two Cigarette packs contains Cigarettes in possession of the suspects and they were sniffed and detected by a specially trained dog belonging to the Police.

The suspects are due to produce before the Hatton Magistrate Court.

President To Grant Common Pardon To 510 Prisoners To Mark Christmas

President Maithripala Sirisena is due to grant common
pardon to 510 Prisoners who are in remand over small crimes today (25) behalf of Christmas which falls today.

The prisoners who are due to receive Presidential common pardon are those in remand and open prison cells the Prison authorities have stated.Due to Christmas Prison authorities have arranged programmes for Catholic prisoners  in prisons and detention centers situated throughout island to be with their family members on Christmas day authorities have announced.

Three Persons Were Arrested With 100 Kilo Grammes Of "Mawa"Narcotic

Point Of Pedro Police have arrested three suspects
with 100 kilo grammes of "Mawa" narcotic which is a mixture of Cannabis and Tobacco in their possession at Imbasetty in Point Pedro last Saturday evening (23).

The narcotic believed to be brought from India by a boat according to the Police.

The suspects who are of the ages 45,40 and 47 years and residents of Point Of Pedro are involved in the narcotic trade from some time it has been revealed.

A team of Police Officers attached to Point Of Pedro police are investigating on the incident.

A Youth Motorcyclist Was Killed After The Motorcycle Caught Fire While Riding

A 25 year old youth was burnt to death after the

Motorcycle he was riding in suddenly caught fire and it spreads towards him at Araly,Kottekadu area in Jaffna last evening (24).

The youth was killed due to the severe burn injuries sustained as a result of the fire according to the Police.

Vaddukoddai Police are investigating on the incident.

A Deputy Principal Arrested Over The Charges Of Sexually Abusing A Child

Uhana Police had arrested a Deputy Principal of a
popular school in Uhana,Ampara this morning (24)over sending an obscene pictures to the mobile phone of a female student of the school through a short message.

The Deputy Principal was arrested on a complaint over the charges of sexually abusing a child.

Four Workers Were Hospitalized Due To Electrocution

Four workers attached to a private company in
Balangoda area have been hospitalized due to  electrocution .

The workers were admitted to the Balangoda Hospital for treatment and one worker had been transferred to Ratnapura General Hospital for further treatment.

Balangoda Police are investigating on the incident.

A Person Was Killed After A Sand Mount Collapsed On Him

A person was killed due to a sand mount collapsed on
him while inside the foundation pit cut to build a  wall  of his house in Pallegama area,Nawalapitiya this morning (24).

Soon after the accident Police have arrived the scene and with a help of a Bako mechine taken the drowned person out of the pit it has been reported.However he had succumbed to his injuries  soon after  admitted to the Nawalapitiya Hospital.

The deceased had been identified as Gamini Fonseka a resident of Pallegama area.He had faced the incident while involved in measuring activities of the foundation pit and two others with him at that time have been escaped unharmed.

Six Sri Lankan Airlines Board Of Directors Have Resigned

Six board Of Directors of the Sri Lankan Airlines have
resigned from their posts with immediatte effect according to reports.

They have resigned to facilitate the appointment of new Board Of Directors for restructuring .

The new Board Of Directors to replace the resigned members is due to appoint soon it has been announced.

Meanwhile the committee to probe on fraud and corruption occurred in Sri Lankan and Mihin Lanka Airlines will be appointed during first week of January  President Maithripala Sirisena has announced today (24).

A German Female Has Drowned In Tangalle Seas

A 59 year old German female has drowned and died
while bathing in seas of Marakolliya in Tangalle.

While bathing she had drifted away due to strong sea currents and life saving teams had rescued her and admitted to the Tangalle Hospital in critical condition.

Later she had pronounced as dead.
