A proposal to extending the term of of main opposition leader Mr.Ranil Wikramasinha(United National Party) by another 6 years was unanimously passed with majority of votes during the party convention held this morning at United National Party Headquarters in Kotte .during the voting 4978 party members present at the convention voting in favor of the proposal while 337 members including deputy UNP Leader MP Sajith Premadasa voted against it. Despite opposing the proposal deputy UNP Leader Sajith Premadasa has stated that he will however support Mr.Ranil Wikramasinha if he is contesting the next presidential elections.if mr.wikramasinha does not contesting mr.premadasa has stated that he will contest .
