Around 1700 Leprosy Patients Have Been Reported From The Country Last Year-Anti Leprosy Campaign
Around 1700 Leprosy Patients have been reported from Sri Lanka last year(2015) and the majority around 42% of these patients have been reported from the Western Province according to Anti Leprosy Campaign.
The small children suffering from Leprosy in the country are on the increase and 181 such children have been identified last year alone the Campaign Officials have revealed during the media seminar held at Health Education Bureau yesterday(16) regarding Leprosy.

Minister Of Health Has Instructed The Health Ministry Officials To Import Short Supply Drugs To The Country Within One And Half Month Period
The Minister Of Health,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has instructed the Health Ministry Officials to take steps to import drugs which are in short supply at Government Hospitals within one and half month period for benefit of the patients.
At the moment it takes Nine Months to import an essential drug to the country due to the current tender procedures.
The Health Minister has also decided to submit a paper to the Cabinet seeking it's approval for importing more drugs to Government Hospitals to avoid a shortage until coming June.

Navy Divers Recovered The Bodies Of Two Girls Who Went Missing After They Drowned In Kelani River
The Navy Divers have recovered the bodies of two girls aged 13 years who went missing after went to bathe in Kelani River on last Monday from rived bed .
Three Girls who went to Bathe in Kelani River on Monday have reported as missing after they have drowned in the river.However the residents living in near Kelani River have manged to rescue one girl shortly after she has drowned.But later she was pronounced as dead.
The dead girls were residents of Uragaha,Habarugala (In Western Province) Area.

Welikada Police Have Arrested Four Young Girls Worked At A Brothel House Functioned As A Massage Center
The Police have yesterday(16) arrested four young girls who have worked at a Brothel House which functioned in a guise of a Massage Center(SPA) at Rajagiriya-Buthgamuwa Road(In Colombo) during a raid carried out there.
The raid has been carried out at the Brothel by Welikada Police Officers headed by OIC Sudath Asamdala.
The Welikada Police have received so many complaints from the public on Brothel Houses that illegally functioning as Massage Centers and Massage Centers functioning without a proper licence within the Kotte Urban Council Area according to the Police.

Sri Lanka Has Managed To Reduce The Poverty To Below 7% Of The Population-A New Research Finding Of World Bank
Sri Lanka has made an encouraging progress on reducing the poverty to below 7% of the local population according to a new research finding revealed by a World Bank Group today(16).
According to the new research finding the fall in poverty of the Sri Lankan Society is mainly due to the increased labor income as the local economy has shifted from less productive Agriculture towards the Industry and Service Sectors .
The research finding also shows although the poverty has decreased ,progress is uneven across gender,ethnicity and location.A large number of poor still living within or close to urban areas and there are considerably higher rates of Poverty prevails in North and East ,The Estate Sector and in Monaragala District the findings have revealed.
The Research Finding has also revealed that As around 40% of the local population still earn less than Rs.225 daily ,many people in the society are at risk of falling back to poverty .

Colombo High Court Has Today (16) Ordered To Produce Imprisoned Cecille Kothalawala Before Court On 23rd Of February
The Colombo High Court has today(16) ordered to produce the imprisoned Cicille Kothalawala the wife of former Sri Lankan Business Tycoon Lalith Kothalawala before High Court on 23rd of February.
The directive to produce Cecille Kothalawala has been issued after considering a motions filed by Attorneys has been taken into consideration today by High Court Judge Manilal Wijethilake.
Ceceille Kothalawala who had been charged for misappropriating Rs.26 billion worth public investments in failed Golden Key Credit Company has been arrested by local immigration officials at the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Air Port when she returned to the country from United Kingdom early this month.
Although an arrest warrant has issued against her few years ago Cecille Kothalawala has evaded courts till her arrest.

Shooting Near Balapitiya Magistrate Court Killed One And Seriously Injured Another Person
One Person has been killed and another one got injured after an unidentified Gunman had shot at them this morning near the Balapitiya(In Southern Province) Magistrate Court.
Due to the shooting One Person was killed on the spot and other person who had received life threatening injuries has been admitted to the Balapitiya Hospital.The deceased and the injured person have faced this incident when they were on their way to attend a court case.
The body of the deceased person has been taken to Balapitiya Hospital for an Autopsy.
The Balapitiya Police are conducting an investigations to identify the suspect.

The imprisoned Bodu Bala Sena General Secretary Venerable Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero who is in prison over allegedly threatening Sandhya Eknaligoda the wife of missing cartoonist Prageeth Eknaligoda has been re -remanded until 23rd of February by the Homagama Magistrate today(16).

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena Has Arrived Germany For A State Visit

Riot Police Have Dispersed A Protest March Of Unemployed Graduates Near Lotus Roundabout By Using Tear Gas And Water Cannons
The riot police has used tear gas and water cannons to disperse a protest march conducted by the Combined Union of Unemployed Graduates near Lotus Roundabout in Colombo short while ago.
The Unemployed Graduates Union has organized this protest march by demanding the government to fill the vacancies of Government Sector through an unemployed graduates.The protest march has commenced from Technical Collage Junction in Maradana(In Colombo) and on the way to Prime Minister's Office to hand over a letter regarding their demand when the police dispersed the protest.
Due to the teat gas used by riot police to disperse the unemployed graduates protest march two journalists who were there at that time to cover the march have been injured and hospitalized according to reports.
