1561 Persons Were Arrested Yesterday (16)Over Violating Quarantine Laws

 1561 Persons had been arrested during   yesterday (16) over violating quarantine laws according to Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana .This is the highest number of arrests made so far on a single day over violating quarantine laws DIG Rohana has stated .


Accordingly majority of these arrests which was 228  were made in Kuliyapitiya area and 165 were in Kandy district DIG Rohana has stated .

Police had sent back 105 persons who had attempted to cross from  one province to  another violating quarantine laws it had been reported .

59 Corona Deaths Reported Yesterday (16)

 A total of 59 Corona deaths had been reported in the country yesterday (16) increasing the total number of Corona deaths reported so far to 2374 according b Ministry Of Health .


Accordingly 31 males and 28 females have died due to Covid Pneumonia and complications occurred due to the non communicable diseases they have suffered from as a result of Corona infection the Ministry had stated .

Out of the total number of Corona deaths reported yesterday 38 were over 60 years old and there was a death of a under 30 year old as well it has been revealed .


Another 2419 Corona Positives Had Been Reported Yesterday (16)


 Another 2419 Corona Positives had been reported yesterday. (16) ,Increasing the total number of Corona Positives reported so far to 230,692 according to the Ministry Of Health .



At the moment 34,232 Corona Positives are being treated at Government hospitals and treatment centers the Ministry. Has stated .

Imprisoned Former CID Director Shani Abeysekare Has Been Released On Bail

 The Court of Appeal has today (16) released the imprisoned former Director of Criminal Investigations Department (CID ) nick named as Sherlock Holmes in Sri Lanka Police ,Shani Abeysekare on strict bail conditions .


The former CID Director Mr .Abeysekare had been bail out after considering the bail application submitted to the court by his lawyers .Sub Inspector Sugath Mendis who was  remanded along with Mr .Abeysekare over the same offence  had been also released on bsil today .

The Former CID Director and the Sub Inspector Mendis were imprisoned over the charges of creating false evidence on Former DIG Vaas Gunswardane in a case filed at courts .

Both Mr Abeysekare and Sub Inspector Mendis were asked to submit their passports to the courts .
