A Drug Suspect Was Shot And Killed When He Attempted To Escape From Police Custody
A 34 year old suspect who was arrested last evening (11) by the Police Anti Narcotic Bureau officers with 33 Grammes and 600 Mili Grammes of Heroin in possession in front of Galle Urban Council had shot and killed by the Police when he had attempted to escape from police custody whilst taking him to the Judicial Medical Officer (JMO0 of the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital .Police officers had shot at him when he pulled the Police officers with him away and attempted to run away .The suspect had succumbed to his injuries on admission to Karapitiya Hospital it has been reported.
The suspect was a resident of Jambugaswatte ,Poddala area and he had 04 pending legal cases in Courts against him over smuggling Heroin.
Ten Uva Wellassa University Students Arrested And Remanded Over Ragging Incident
Police have yesterday (11) arrested 10 third year University Students attached to Uva University in Badulla District over ragging 04 second year students at their Hostels around five month period .The suspected students had been remanded until tomorrow (13)after been produced them before Badulla Magistrate Court .
The 10 suspected students had been arrested accordance to a complaint revived by the Police against them .

Narcotic Bureau had today (12)arrested two persons with 105 Kilo Grammes of Kerala Cannabis in possession near the 52 nd post at Mulankavil area on Jaffna-Mannar road .
The two suspects are 17 and 36 year old residents of Mulankavil and Pesalai areas respectively .They are scheduled to be produced before the courts .

Homagama Pradesheeya Sabha MP Arrested Over Violating Election Rules
Meegoda police have today (12)arrested
the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna ( Flower Bud symbol) MP attached to the Homagama Pradesheeya Sabha Nihal Ranjith Hewawasam over distribution of a structure of a ballot paper among public .
The Pradesheeya Sabha MP is scheduled to be produced before the Homagama Magistrate Court tomorrow(13).

Two Female Students Of Sabaragamuwa University Had Drowned Whilst Bathing In Diyaluma Falls -Larer Rescued And Hospitalized
The two students who had been rescued after drowning were admitted to Diyathalawa Base Hospital for treatment .
Their condition is now stable according to sources .
The incident occurred when the two drowned students arrived in to view Diyaluma Falls along with fellow students of the University .
