UNAIDS Office- Sri Lanka To Launch A Special Programme On Referring Three Major Risk Groups Which Spreading HIV/AIDS In Sri Lanka For HIV Screening Blood Test

The United Nations AIDS Programme(UNAIDS) Office in Sri Lanka has decided to launch a special programme on referring three major risk groups identified as spreading HIV/AIDS in Sri Lanka to blood screening test on HIV/AIDS after this January according to the Country Manager of UNAIDS in Sri Lanka Dr.Dayanath Ranathunge.

Under this programme the three major risk groups Sex Workers,Male Homosexuals and Drug Users Injecting Drugs will be referring for HIV/AIDS Blood Test through a rehabilitated persons  belonging to the  three groups to identify their HIV Status according to Dr.Ranathunge.

Through this the UNIADS is expecting to diagnose the undiagnosed HIV Positives in the local society as a part of their target  to eliminate HIV/AIDS from Sri Lanka in the year 2030.

Bribery Commission Has Today(07) Filed A Case Against Former Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardene Over Non Declaration Of His Assets

Image result for bribery commissionThe Bribery Commission has today(07) filed a case against former United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA)Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardene at Colombo High Court over an allegation  on  non declaration of his assets estimated at Rs.41.2 million.

The former minister who is also a current UPFA MP of the Parliament has acquired theses assets as a bribe during 2004-2006 period according to the Bribery Commission.

Air Port Custom Officers Had Arrested A Passenger And An Immigration Officer At The Air Port When They Attempted To Smuggle Over Rs.27 Million Worth Gold In To The Country

Image result for smuggled gold to srilankaThe Air Port Custom Officers had arrested a passenger and an Immigration Officer early this morning  at Katunayake Bandaranaike International Air Port when they attempted to smuggle a stock of Gold weighing 5.1 Kilo Grammes and worth over Rs.27 million in to the country.

According to Custom Officers a 31 year old Passenger from Kaththankudy who had arrived from Kualalampur,Malaysia early this morning and a 55 year old immigration officer on duty at the Air Port have been arrested with 392 Gold Chains,18 Gold Slabs and Rs.9,000,000 in their possession,

The two suspects along with the stock of Gold in their possession have been handed over to the Customs Investigation Department to take an action.The Customs are conducting an investigation on the incident.

Twenty Police Officers Attached To Embilipitiya Police Station Have Been Transferred With Immediate Effect

Image result for sri lanka policeTwenty One Police Officers attached to the Embilipitiya Police Station have been transferred temporarily with immediate effect pending an investigation on the death of a youth in Embilipitiya.

The Police Officers have been transferred to Kegalle and Seetawaka Police Divisions  according to Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekere.

The Police Media Spokesman has further stated the Youth had jumped from  upper floor of the house in Embilipitiya where the clash has been occurred, After Police Officers have tried to arrest him over his  violent behavior.

A Youth Who Jumped From An Upper Floor Of A House In Embilipitiya Last Tuesday Succumbed To His Injuries

A youth who had jumped from an upper floor of a house at Embilipitiya (In Sabaragamuwa Province) on last Tuesday(04) during a clash occurred at a House in Embilipitiya between Villagers and Police had succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at Embilipitiya Hospital this morning.

The youth has been admitted to the hospital in critical  condition  last  Tuesday.

After hearing the news of youth's death a group of angry residents in Embilipitiya Town had conducted Protests and Harthals at the Town today and setting  fire to Tires on the road it has been reported.

Meanwhile the Human Rights Commission Of Sri Lanka has decided to inquire the death of the youth immediately .

Ministry Of Education Has Interdicted The Principle Of Kingswood College -Kandy For Collecting Money From Parents Of Students

The Ministry Of Education has today(07)interdicted the Principle of one of the leading Private Schools in Kandy ,Kingswood College  for collecting money from parents enrolling Grade 1-Students for the year 2016.

The audit carried out by the Ministry Of Education has revealed the principle had collected a Sum of Rs.3,625,000 by stating it was for a construction of a new building in the school by violating regulations.According to the government regulations ,collecting money for enrolling students for a school has been strictly prohibited.

The Principle of the Kingswood College had collected a sum of Rs.50,000 each from 65 individuals the audit carried out by the Ministry has revealed.
