Three Students Attached To Jaffna University Had Been Injured Due To A Brawl.

Three Students attached to the Science
Faculty of Jaffna University had been injured and admitted to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital as a result of a brawl occurred between two groups of students of the faculty last Tuesday  (11)night.

The condition of the injured students are not serious according to Police .

The incident occurred between  second and fourth year student groups of the science faculty over the second year students not respecting the fourth year students it has been revealed .

Jaffna Police have recorded statements from the students who have involved in the brawl and conducting further investigations over the incident. 

A 46 Year Old Police Constable Had Been Remanded Over Sexually Assaulting A 13 Year Old Girl

A 46 year old Police Constable had been
arrested and remanded over forcibly sexually assaulting of  a 13 year old school girl in Wattegama in  Kandy  area.

The suspected Police Constable who had an affair with mother of the victim since  long time had forcibly taken her to a lodge in Dambulla and sexually assaulted her according to reports .

The incident has been revealed when the victimised girl had informed on it to her school teacher. Teacher had then complaint on the incident to the Child and Women's Bureau of Dambulla Police and as a result Police have arrested the suspected Police Constable after he was surrendered to the Police on 11 th of December .

The suspect is a resident of Wattegama in Kandy.

The suspected Constable  had been remanded until 24 th of December by the Dambulla Magistrate Kosala Bandara Ilsngasinghe  after being produced him before the court yesterday  (12).

Eighteen Year Old Student Cyclist Had Been Killed Due To Bicycle -Lorry Collision

An eighteen Year old student cyclist
had  been killed after the Bicycle he was riding in colliding with a Lorry at Kaduruwela area on Polonnaruwa-Batticaloa road last  morning (12).

The student who was a resident of Kaduruwela  area had faced this incident whilst on the way home from a friemds house it has been reported.

The Lorry driver had fled away from the area soon after the accident.

Kaduruwela Police are conducting an investigations to arrest the Lorry driver regarding the incident .



A 45 Year Old Person Had Been Sentenced To Death

A 45 year old Heroin Smuggler had
been sentenced to death by the Colombo High Court Judge Gihan Pilapitiya today  (12)over Heroin smuggling and keeping 18.94 Grammes of Heroin in his possession .

The Accused who is a resident of Maradana, Colombo area has been arrested and remanded on 7 th of January 2013 over keeping in possession a haul of Heroin .

Attorney General had indicted the accused over the charges .

A Businessman Was Shot And Killed At Sapugaskanda

A 35 year old Businessman Was  shot

and killed by two unidentified gunmen arrived in from a Motorcycle at Galewela Junction in Sapugaskanda area today (12)at 8 p.m. according to Police .

The critically injured Businessman who was a resident of Makola North had succumbed to his injuries after admission to Kiribathgoda Hospital .

The gunmen had fled away from the scene after the gun shooting incident.

The cause behind the gun shooting incident  has not yet been revealed. Sapugaskanda Police are conducting an investigations to arrest the gunmen .

Speaker Informed President, UNP .Leader Ranil Wikramasinghe Has The Confidence Of Majority In Parliament To Function As Prime Minister

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya had this

evening  (12)informed the President Maithripala Sirisena that a motion to  show confidemce has been passed today in Parliament to show United National Party (UNP) leader Ranil Wikramasinghe has the maximum confidemce in Parloament to function as Prime Mimister of the country .

The Motion had been passed in Parliament according to a voting held under the standing order 47 (2) of the constitution.During the voting  held through Electronic system UNP.Leader Ranil Wikramasinghe has received  a majority of 117 votes Speaker has stressed .

A Motion Submitted To Parliament (12)To Show Support Of The MP 's To UNP Leader Had Been Passed

A motion submitted to Parliament
today (12)to show confidemce towards United National Party (UNP) leader Ranil Wikramasinghe as Prime Minister has been passed by a majority of 117 votes .

The motion had been submitted to the Parliament by Deputy Leader of UNP Sajith Premadasa and confirmed by MP Mangala Samaraweera .

The motion had been debated and later during the voting 117 MP's including MP"s of UNP and Tamil National Alliance (TNA) voted in favour and no one voted against it.

After the conclusion of voting ,UNP Leader Wikramasinghe has thanked all MP's whow had voted in support of him and thanked the Speaker for acting Democratically in Parliament by taking lead .

Everyone should respect the Constitution as it's the major  law of the country he has stressed .

United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP's have boycotted today's parliamentary sessions which begun under the patronage of Speaker Karu Jayasuriya at 1 p.m..

After the passing of the motion, Speaker Jayasuriya Had adjourned the Parliament until 1 p.m. on 20 th of December .
