Batticaloa Chief Magistrate Ordered To Arrest Director Of Batticaloa Hospital And Two Other Doctors Over The Death Of Two Children

had yesrerday  (23)ordered the Batticaloa Police to arrest the Medical Superintendent of the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital Dr.Kala RanjanI, The doctor incharge of Blood Bank of he Hospital and Doctor in charge of Ward 01  of the hospital and produced them before the court today (24)over the death of two children at the hospital.

The postmortem of the two children who had been injured due to an accident and  Transferred to the Batticaloa Hospital from another Hospital revealed the deaths caused due to the error of blood samples given to the children at the Batticaloa Hospital  .

However Batticaloa Police had only produced two Nurses of the hospital over the child deaths and Chief Magistrate ordered the police to arrest other doctors responsible for the incident and produced them before the court today

A Fishing Boat Carrying Three Fishermen Had Dissapeared In Dehiwala Seas

A fishing Boat carrying three fishermen
left to sea  from Dehiwala sea coastal  area had dissapeared last morning (23) it has been revealed .

However out of the three fishermen in the boat one was rescued and a body of another fisherman washed ashore near the sea coastal area at Ratmalana Train station last evening according to reports .

However the third fisherman has been missing and residents in the area believes that the fishing boat might have met with an accident near the rock at Dehiwala sea area .

Investigations are underway to find the missing boat .

Thero along with members of Mothers Organization for justice and few lawyers appear behalf of Females who had complaint they were subjected to illegal sterilization had  not been  allowed to meet President Maithripala Sirisena when they arrived at Presidential Secretariet in Colombo last noon (23)to hand over a letter demanding Justice for females complaint on sterilization  at Kurunagala Teaching Hospital .

However finally they met the chief of staff of President and handed over the letter to him it has been revealed. The letter demanding the justice for females complaint on illegal sterilization by Dr. Safi attached to Kurunagala Hospital.

Navy Recovered 717 Kilo Grammes Of Beedi Leaves In Northern Seas

Naval Command had recovered 717 .82 Kilo Grammes of Beedi leaves wrapped in 13 parcels at Sand reeves area in Thalaimannar today (23).

The stock of Beedi leaves had recovered whilst floating in sea  during a search operation  carried out  by Navy in the sea area between 05 th nd 07 th Sand's reeves it has been reported.

The recovered stock of  Beedi leaves   had been  handed over to tlhe Customs office at Jaffna for further investigations.

A 16 Hour Water Cut Is Currently On In Several Areas In Colombo

National Water Supplies And Drainage
Board has today imposed a 16 hour long water cut in Colombo -03,04,05 and Hokandara areas and a low pressure water supply in Three Municipal Council, Three Urban Council  areas ,A Pradeshiya Sabha area and Ratmalana and Soyza pura flats from 6 p.m today  (23) to 1 p.m tomorrow  (24).

The water cut was imposed  for  repair work of the Main pipeline supplying water from Ambathale water refinery which had suddenly collspsed it has been revealed.

Accordingly the low preassure water sipply will be implemented in Colombo,Kotte and Dehiwala -Mount Lavinia Municipal councils ,Boralesgamuwa, Maharagama and Kolonnawa Urban councils, KotIkawatte Pradeshiya Sabha areas and Ratmalana and Soyza pura flats it has been announced. 

A Former Police Seargent Was Sentenced A 16 Year Imprisonment Over Bribery Charges

Hettiarachchi has today (23)sentenced a former Seargent attached to Kahawatte Police a 16 year rigorous imprisonment to be served within four years over demanding a Rs.16,000 as a bribe from a person involved in illicit liquor trade .

High Court Judge Pradeep Hettiarachchi has also imposed Rs.20,000 fine on the accused who was found guilty over the Bribery charges .

The accused former Police seargent was arrested by Officials of Bribery Commission  over demanding the bribe from the illicit liquor trader for not taking legal action against him .

Bribery Commission officials have filed the legal case Agsinst the accused at Colombo High CouRt.
