Colombo National Eye Hospital To Perform Eye Tests Of Diabetic Patients With High Tech Retinal Camera

Testing Eyes of Diabetic patients by using high tech modern Retinal Camera will be performed for the first time in Sri Lanka from 21st of September  (Yesterday ) up to 21 st of October at the National Eye Hospital in Colombo according to Ophthal mologists .

Now a high tech Modern Retinal Camera has been  fixed at National Eye Hospital to perform eye tests of Diabetic patients accurately within short period of time they have said.

Anyone in Colombo and outststations with Diabetes who wants to test their eyes can doing so from 8 a.m  to 4 p.m during weekdays at Room number 30 of the Eye Hospital up to 21st of October .

Body Of A 29 Year Old Female Lecturer Had Been Recovered Whilst Floating In Eastern Seas

A  body of a 29 year old female Lecturer
had been recovered by Police whilst floating in the sea near the Trincomalee Fort Sea coast last  Wednesday (20).

The deceased Lecturer was attached to the Faculty of Business Studies and Mass Communication at the Trincomalee Division of the Eastern University.A

Before recovering the body a person had found the shoes and the Hand Bag belonging to the deceased Lecturer and handed over them to the life saving unit of the Police.

The cause of the death has not yet been revealed.


Ninty Six Garment Factory Workers Fallen Sick After Consuming Breakfirst

Around 96 Garment Factory workers
attached to a Garment Factory in Yaka hatuwa, Minuwangoda had been admitted to Minuwangoda District Hospital for treatment after falling sick due to a food poisoning this morning (22) it has been reported.

The sicken Garment Factory workers had fallen sick with symptoms including vomiting, Stomachache and fatigue after consuming Breakfirst provided to them by a private institute .

Accordingly 71 sicken Factory workers had been admitted to Minuwangoda District Hospital and 25 workers had been admitted to Gampaha Teaching Hospital. 

Five Persons Injured Due To Van-Bus Collision

Five Persons had been injured and
hospitalized after the Van they were travelling in colliding with a Private Bus and veering off the road and toppled over  at Ginigathhena-Rampadeniya area on Hatton-Colombo main road this morning (22).

The injured were admitted to the Ginigathhena Provincial Hospital for treatment.

The accident occurred due to the High Speed Private Bus travelling from Hatton to Colombo colliding with the Van travelling from Seeduwa to Nuwara Eliya .There were 11 Passangers In the Bus at the time of the accident .

Ginigathhena Police are conducting an investigations over the incident.

Sri Lankan Airlines To Suspend It's Flights To Hong Kong From 28 th of October

Sri Lankan Airlines have decided to
suspend it's flights to Hong Kong with effect from 28th of October due to  lack of profits .

However the Airlines is due to expand its flights to Melbourne ,Australia and to Singapore with effect from 28th of October and 29 th of October respectively.

Accordingly the number of Sri Lankan Airlines Flights fly to Singapore weekly due to be  increased from 17 to 21.

Three Persons Had Arrested Over Smuggling A Stock Of Valuable Foreign Flower Plants Without A Quarantine Certificate

Airport Customs officers have
yesterday (21)arrested three Persons including two females over attempting to smuggle a stock of valuable flower plants including Anthuriums and Orchids brought from Thailand without obtaining a Quarantine Certificate to Sri Lanka at Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport.

The three suspects  are residents of Kelaniya ,Ja Ela and Matara areas.

They were arrested with a stock of Flowers plants with a value of nearly Rs.500,000 it has been reported.

By bringing the flower plants without a Quarantine Certificate  The suspects had  violated the regulations of fauna and flora act Airport Customs officers said.

Lieutinent Erantha Pieris Arrested Over Abduction And Disappearance Of Former Cartoonist Eknaligoda Has Been Remanded

Colonel  Erantha Pieris arrested over Abducting and dissaperance of cartoonist Prageeth Eknaligoda had been remanded until 28 th of September by the Homagama Magistrate Court yesterday  (21).

He was produced before the Court yesterday.

The Ieutinent  was arrested last Thursday evening (20) by the CID officers  after giving a statement regarding the abduction and disappearence of Eknaligoda at CID Headquarters .

Fierce Fighting Has Erupted Among Tuskers And Elephants At Kala And Balalu Wewa Areas

Fierce fighting has  erupted among Tuskers and Wild Elephants near Kala Wewa (Tank) and Balalu Wewa these days during mornings and noon due to the 'must ' season of them it has been reported.

Among the Tuskers and Elephants that are involved in fighting with others are "Ravatha" Elephant and "Esala" Tusker .

Mother Elephants are  meanwhile  reportedly attempting to save their  Baby calf's from the fighting according to reports.

Wild Life officers have appealed the villagers to refrain from loitering around Kala and Balalu Wewa areas due to the Elephant -Tusker fightings.

Joint Opposition MP's Wimal Weerawansha And Prasanna Ranaweera Had Been Suspended Attending Parliament Over Violating Standing Orders

Parliament today (21)have approved
two proposals to suspend Joint Opposition MP's Wimal Weerawansha and Prasanna Ranaweera from attending Parliament for two weeks and four weeks respectively over violating Parliamentary stand standing  orders .

Accordingly Colombo District Joint Opposotion MP Wimal Weerawansha had been suspended from attending Parliament for two weeks through a proposal approved in Parliament by a majority of 8 votes, while 29 voted for and 21 voted against and Gampaha District Joint Opposition MP Prasanna Ranaweera had been suspended from attending Parliament for four weeks from a proposal passed with 20 majority votes, 41 voted for and 21 voted against .

A Father And Daughter Have Drowned While Bathing In Girithale Wewa (River)

A father and his daughter have
drowned and disappeared while bathing in Girithale Wewa (River)at Minneriya this noon (21).

The drowned father and daughter of the ages 45 and 14 years respectively  had arrived in Minneriya for a picnic with a group from Minuwangoda it has been revealed.

An Iranian Mother And Daughter Had Been Arrested And Expelled While Attempting To Fly London By Fake Passports

An immigration and Emigration
officials have arrested an Iranian Mother and Daughter who had attempted to fly to London via Katunayake Airport with a Fraudulent passports in wee hours of this morning (21) and expelled them to Abudhabi .

The suspected 65 year old mother and 37 year old daughter who had arrived in from Abudhabi  via Gulf Airways flight had been arrested by the Immigration and Emigration officials after confirming that they have Fraudulent passports in their possession.

The suspects had introduced them as British Citizens to the officials although they are an Iranian Nationals.
