Police Arrested Six Students In Anuradhapura Over Assaulting Of Another Student

Anuradhapura Police have arrested six A/Level students attached to a popular school in Anuradhapura regarding assaulting of a student attached to  another school last night(06).

The student who was assaulted is currently receiving treatment in Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.

The assault was taken place due to a love affair it has been revealed.

Police Have Arrested A Person With More Than 10 Grammes Of Heroin

Police have arrested a 29 year old  person with 10 Grammes and 100 Mili Grammes of Heroin in possession in Mattakkuliya area.

The suspect who is a resident of Mattakkuliya area is due to be produced before the Maligakande Magistrate Court today(07).

Five Police Officers Arrested And Remanded Over The Death Of A Suspect While In Custody ,Were Further Remanded

Five Police Officers including a sub

inspector and four Police Constables attached to the Paliyagoda Police Station Arrested and remanded over a death of a suspect while in custody, were further remanded until 13 th of March by the Colombo additional Magistrate  yesterday (06).

The suspects were produced before the court yesterday .

During the identification parade held yesterday the wife of the deceased has identified three out of the four suspected police constables produced as the Police Officers came to arrest her husband.The sub inspector is due to produce for the identification parade today (07).

Two Motor Cyclists Were Killed Due To An Accident In Wariyapola

Two Motor cyclists were killed and another was injured and hospitalized

 after the two Motor Cycles they were  in colliding with each other in bogammana,wariyapola area.

The deceased had been identified as residents of Wariyapola area .

Nanu Oya Police Recovered A Body Of Youth Drowned While Bathing

Nanu Oya Police have today (06)

recovered a body of a youth who was drowned while bathing in Glassaugh Falls in Nanu Oya yesterday (05).

The deceased was a resident of Nuwara Eliya(Upcountry) it has been revealed .

Police Have Arrested A Person With 13 Kilo Grammes Of Heroin

Police have arrested  a person with 13 kilo

grammes of Heroin in his possession in Nagalagamwediya  Grandpass area this afternoon (06).

The suspect was arrested while he was standing in the roadside with a black polythene bag concealed with haul of Heroin.

The value of the haul of Heroin detained estimated as RS.20 million .

Police are currently questioning the suspect .

Twenty Students In Matara District Hospitalized Due To A Food Poisoning

Around 20 students attached to a school

in Matara had been hospitalized last evening (05) due to a  suspected food poisoning  .

The students were admitted to the Tangalle Hospital and they are in stable condition according to the sources .

Four Month Old Infant Girl Died Due To Cut Injuries Received From Her Mother-Police

A four month old infant girl has died this morning g (06) after being admitted

to the Matale General Hospital following an assault by  her mother it has been reported.

The infant girl was hospitalized by a female neighbour in Kandagolla ,Matale (Central  Province)this morning in critical condition with cut injuries  on her body .However she had succumbed to her Injuries at the time of the admission .

Heavy Traffic Reported In Low Level Road In Meethotamulla And Colombo-Awissawella Road Due To A Protest

A heavy traffic is being reported from the low level road in Meethotamulla

 and Colombo -Awisssawel la road since this morning (06) due to a public protest in Meethotamulla area opposing the  dumping of garbage collected from Colombo to Meethotamulla Garbage Dumping site .

Due to the protest led by Kolonnawa UNP MP marikkar a section of the Colombo-Awissawella road UpTo Meethotamulla area has been closed for traffic since this morning.

Police have advised public to use an alternative routes for travelling .

MP Venerable Athuraliye Rathana Thero also participated in the protest attended by a large crowd in the area.

Imprisoned MP Wimal Weeeawansha Has Been Further Remanded

Joint opposition MP and the leader of the National Freedom Front Wimal

 Weeeawansha who is in remand over misusing of state owned vehicles ,has been further remanded until 20 th of of March by the Colombo Fort Magistrate today(06).

After being produced before the Magistrate Court this morning ,MP Weerawanaha has made a one and half hour long statement in the court without the assistance of a lawyer regarding his arrest  it has been reported.

The MP had accused the Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID)for arresting him by violating the regulations of public property act.
