Dengue Mosquito Is A Day Biter Like To Hide Under Furniture And Hanged Cloths -WHO Expert Dr.Nagpal

Dengue mosquito Aedes Aegypti is a day biter who can

bite humans during any time of the day although a specific time period given by the authorities from 6 a.m to 8 a.m in the morning and 4 p.m to 6 p.m in the e evening which are peak hours of their bite and the mosqito is hiding in dark places like under the furniture and hanged cloths according to the World Health Organization (WHO) expert Dr.Bhupendra Nagpal.

To avoid mosquito bites public should apply a mosquito repellent,wearing light coloured long sleeve cloths ,use mosquito nets during sleep  and  avoid places mosquitos are he has stressed during a seminar held yesterday (27)at the Government Information Department in Narahenpita regarding the Dengue control.

He has further said that although authorities used fumigation to control Dengue mosquitoes it's not 100%effective and should remove or destroy  water collected containers and medias and clean houses/gardens  and premises seven days a week to keep enviornment clean so the Dengue mosquitoes will disapoear as a result of it.

Around 25 Houses And Buildings In Diyathalawa Damaged Due To Strong Winds

Around 25 houses and buildings were heavily

damaged due to the falling down of trees on them as a result of the strong winds experienced in Diyathalawa, Manikkanda and Ranjallawa areas yesterday (27) it has been reported.Official residences of Army personal among those houses got damaged due to the winds authorities have stated.

Heavy showers are being experienced in central hill areas these days and due to tree falls public are being advised to be in vigilant over the situation.

Meanwhile around 150 families have been evacuated from houses in dikarawa in Bandarawela area as there was a drowning risk in the area caused by adverse weather.The evacuated families are residing in youth force premises in bindunuwewa area .

A Motor Car Damaged Due To A Falling Down Of A Tree

Due to the heavy showers and strong winds prevailing

in central hill areas these days a motor car was damaged as a result of falling down of a tree in Bandarawela yesterday (27).

Trees have fallen in other places in central hills due to the showers and winds it has been reported.

Heavy showers have been experienced in Bandarawela, Haputhale and  Diyathalawa areas since yesterday (27) ending the drought lasted five months .

Three Sex Workers And A Manager Arrested In A Brothel House In Thalawathugoda

Thalangama Police have raided a brothel house maintained at a Luxury house in Thalawathugoda area on pretext of a Massage Center(SPA)  and arrested three female sex workers and a manager working there .

The Luxury House had been used in rental basis for the Brothel House it has been revealed.

The arrested sex workers are residents of Galewela,Padukke and Kandy  and they are due to produce before the court it has been reported.

After The Strike Ended 251 Bowsers Had Left Kolonnawa And Muthurajawela Fuel Storage Terminals This Morning

Around 251 Bowsers loaded with fuel had left the Fuel Storage Complexes in Kolonnawa and Muthurajawela this morning(27) after the Strike launched by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation workers has ended last night(26) according to sources.

Out of these Bowsers 176 left from Kolonnawa loaded with  1286 metric tonnes of Diesel  and 830 metric tonnes of Petrol  .and 75 Bowsers left from Muthurajawela loaded with  788 metric tonnes of Diesel and 380 metric tonnes of Petrol sources said.

Three Persons Have Drowned After Falling Down Into A Well

Three persons have drowned after falling down into a well at Athuruwela in Giriulla last night(26) while attending a wedding reception it has been reported.

One person had fallen into the well which located within the Reception hall premises whether the wedding was held and when two persons attempted to rescue the fallen person by using a rope and a ladder they too had fallen into the same well according to sources.

Participants of the wedding have rescued the three persons fallen into the well and admitted to the Dambadeniya Hospital,however they have succumbed to their injuries on admission to the Hospital.

Giriulla Police are conducting an investigation on the incident.

Hambanthota Port Workers Postponed The Scheduled Protest Campaign And Strike

The Protest Campaign and the strike scheduled to be launched by the Hambanthota ,Magampura Port workers today(27) and tomorrow(28)respectively against selling of 80% of the port to a Chinese Firm  had been temporarily suspended according to the All Ceylon Common Workers Union.

After the involvement of Army Personal to resume the distribution of fuel of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation's Fuel storing complexes which stopped due to the workers strike ,Hambanthota Port workers suspended their trade union actions citing that they will face the same fate as fuel workers it has been reported.

Government has signed the agreement with a Chinese firm regarding the selling majority of the Hambanthota Port to the firm last month and the Organizers of the postponed strike has stated that they believe that government will amend the agreement and taken over the Hambanthota port to the Sri Lanka Ports Authority.

If the Authorities fail to do so the Hambanthota Port Workers will launch a trade union action with Fuel workers organizers have stressed.
