Water Level Of The Kalu Ganga(River) Is Reaching It's Spill Level

Heavy Traffic Reported In Town Hall Due To A Protest March Of Sabaragamuwa University Students
A heavy traffic has been reported this evening (23) at the Town Hall and Ward Place areas due to a protest March conducted by a group of students attached to the Sabaraganuwa University.The protest march which was organized by the Inter University Students Federation has walked towards the University Grants Commission building amidst heavy showers by demanding a representation for the Geology Faculty of Sabaragamuwa University in the Survey Council .
A Motorcyclist Was Injured Due To The Falling Down Of Mara Tree In Maradana
A Motorcyclist was injured and Hospitalized after a old "Siris" Tree (Mara Tree) located in front of the Railways Headquarters at Technical Junction in Maradana (Colombo) had collapsed over the road (23) following the Adverse Weather prevails in .The injured was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital for treatment..
The Police along with the officials of Road Development Authority are currently engaging in the removal of the fallen Tree.
Due to this situation a heavy traffic is being reported in the area according to reports.Motorists are being advised to use alternatives routes till the removal of the fallen tree.
A Sri Lankan -British Citizen Was Arrested With Two Gold Biscuits At The Airport
A 55 year old British Citizen of Sri Lankan origin has been arrested by the Airport Customs Officers this morning (23)while attempting to smuggle two Gold Biscuits weighing 100 Grammes each hidden in his trouser pocket illegally ,at the Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport.
The suspect who had arrived at the Airport by a "Fly Dubai " flight from Dubai was arrested while walking out of the Airport through the Green Channel in wee hours of this morning.The Two Gold Biscuits were hidden in a Wallet at his trouser pocket and one of his shoes it has been revealed.
The estimated value of the Gold Biscuits taken in to custody is around Rs.1.3 million according to Customs.
Water Level Of Kalu River Increasing Rapidly Due To Heavy Showers
Kalu River has already began to overflow in some other areas the Department has stated.
Meanwhile the water level of Kelani River is currently decreasing and some water remains in low land areas like sedawatte had been reversed to the river by the authorities it has been reported.
The Disaster Management Center has requested the persons who are affected due to Adverse Weather and moved to safe places not to return their houses immediately as still there's a threat of collapsing soil mounds and floods in some areas although the flood waters receded .

Around 11 Persons Died And NEARLY 85,000 Affected Due To Adverse Weather-Kalu River Began To Overflow -DMC
At the moment low land areas in Madurawala and Millaniya in Ratnapura are being submerged due to flood waters as a result of overflowing of Kalu River it has been reported.
Due to the overflowing of Kelani River Kaduwela,Hanwella and Kaduwela-Biyagama areas are being submerged .
Navy relief teams and other forces have moved a large number of persons in these submerged areas to safe places .
Heavy showers continues in many districts including Colombo at the moment.
