The senior Deputy Inspector General Of Police (DIG) in charge of North Central Province Priyantha Weerasuriya has been appointed as the acting Inspector General Of Police(IGP)by the President Anura Kumara Dissanayake with effect from yesterday(27).
He was apoointed as the Acting Inspector General Of Police (IGP) as the court has removed the former IGP Deshabandu Thennakoon from functioning as IGP.The new acting Inspector General Of Police began his 36 year long career as a police constable before being promoted as Acting IGP Post it has been revealed.
