A Tense Situation Occurred In Ampara District Due To A Hartal And Protests Against Kandy Incident
A tense situation has occurred in
Marudamunai area at Ampara this noon (06)due to a Harthal staged by a groups in Akkaraipattu Pothuville, Samanthurai areas by burning tyres as a protest over the clashes occurred in Kandy yesterday (05).
Some of the protesters had attacked and damaged three Sri Lanka Transport Board buses and pelted stones at another Bus it has been reported.
Police have calm down the situation and arrested 30 persons acted violently according to reports.The Hartal however continues further it has been announced.

A Lawyer Was Arrested Over A Fake Land Deed
Police have arrested a senior lawyer
attached to the Gangodawila Magistrate Court in Nugegoda today (06)over involving in Fraudulent activities and incured financial loss to the Government.
The lawyer was charged over making a fake deed for a Rs.400 million worth
Land and incured a Rs.10 milion worth financial loss to the Government by writing that fake deed for several people according to reports.

Police Have Extended The Curfew In Kandy Administratuve Area
Police curfew which was re imposed in
Kandy Administrative area this morning (06) until 6 p.m in the evening has been extended until 6 a.m tomorrow (07) to keep law and order in the area according to the Police.
The curfew which imposed in Kandy Administrative area last evening (06) following the clashes in Theldeniya and Digana areas had lifted at 6 a.m this morning.However the Curfew re imposed due to some incidents it has been revealed.
A group of persons numbering around 400 surrounded a Muslim Church in Manikhinna area and atempted to act violently and to disperse the group Police have fired gun shots to the Air according to reports.
Police have appealed the public to be calm and peaceful and if someone attempt to involve in violent activities tri forces are given powers to act against it under state of Emergency laws it has been announced.
Meanwhile all schools in Kandy District will be closed tomorrow (07)as well due to the situation prevails Educational authorities have said.Schools in Kandy District were closed today as well due to the clashes occurred yesterday.

A Three Wheeler Caught Fire And Completely Destroyed In Selawathurai Area
A Three Wheeler travelling to Selawathurai in
Mannar had caught fire and completely destroyed at Ariyalkottai in Selawathurai road this evening (06) it has been reported.
No one was injured due to the incident and Selawathurai Police believes a technical defsult of the Three Wheeler may have caused the fire.
Police are currently investigating on the incident.

More Than One Third Of Female Homicides In Sri Lanka Are Related To Intimate Partner Violence -A Latest Study Reveals
More Than One Third of Female Homicides in Sri Lanka are related to Intimate partner violence and 69% of such incidences go unreported ,a three year long study jointly conducted by United Nations Fund For Population Activities(UNFPA) and University Of Kelaniya regarding the Unnatural Deaths Of Women And Girls in Sri Lanka has revealed , according to the Professor Anurudhdi Edirisinghe attached to the Forensic Medicine Unit in Colombo Medical Faculty .
Out of the 243 homicides reviewed in the study which covered five provinces in Sri Lanka .128 of the cases identified the perpetrator as the legal husband Professor Edirisinghe has stressed during the launching of this Study report held at Saffron Room in BMICH ,Colombo -07 last evening(05).
"The study also reveals that only 30% of the homicide cases had reached the High Court while the average time period for conclusion of cases is three years from the time a case is filed .In light of this the study aims to describe the problems associated with the Judicial processes and outcomes relating to unnatural female deaths .It further aims to provide policy inputs and guidelines to address problems associated with the investigation and judicial processes relating to the issue " Professor Edirisinghe has said.Professor Maithree Wikramasinghe attached to the English Department in University Of Kelaniya who is the wife of Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe had chaired the event .

Two Persons Were Arrested With 107 Kilo Grammes Of Wallapatta
Two persons were arrested while attempting to smuggle 107 Kilo Grammes of an expensive "Wallapatta " known as "Gyrinops Walla" to Dubai illegally last morning (06) at the Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport.
The suspects were concealed the stock of Wallapatta inside their luggage it has been revealed.The value of the stock of Wallapatta taken into custody is around Rs.1.2 million according to the Customs.The suspects are residents of Matara and Kegalle.

Two Females Were Killed And Two Others Critically Injured Due To Motor Car-Tipper Truck Collision
Two females were killed and two others including a two and half year old small girl were critically injured and hospitalized after the Motor Car they were traveling in colliding with a Tipper Truck at Welhengoda ,Ahangama area on Galle-Matara main road this morning(06).
The four critically injured were admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital where the two females had succumbed to their injuries
The deceased were identified as a Mother and Daughter resided in Halekada in Agunakolapalassa area ..

Twenty Four Persons Arrested Over The Violent Activities In Kandy Were Remanded
The arrested persons were charged over burning and damaging properties including Trade stalls and a religious center yesterday.They were arrested and held at Pallekale and Manikhinna Police stations until produced before the court today.
Army Personal are being deployed in and around the Kandy City to prevent further violent activities and to protect state properties it has been reported.
Government Has Decided To Impose A State Of Emergency Throughout The Island For Ten Days
Government has decided to impose a State Of Emergency throughout the Island for a ten day period considering the situation occurred in Kandy yesterday (05)during a special meeting held this morning(06) under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena ,according to the Minister S.B Dissanayake.

Health Minister To Submit A Cabinet Paper On Removing VAT From All Health Services
Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has yesterday (05)instructed the Director General Of Health Services Dr.Anil Jasinghe to prepare a Cabinet Memorandum suggesting to remove VAT Tax from all Health Services for the benefit of Patients in Sri Lanka according to the Ministry Of Health.
