A Person Was Killed By Wild Elephants At Siyambalanduwa
A person who was sleeping inside a crop tent at Kongaspitiya in Siyambalanduwa Area(In Uva Province) was killed yesterday(25) due to the attacks of Wild Elephants it has been reported.
Due to the critical injuries received the person has died on the spot according to the Police.
The deceased was a resident of Hali Ela in Badulla District the Police have stated.

A University Student Had Fallen To Sea And Died At Nilaveli
A University Student had fallen to sea later died whilst viewing coral reefs near the sea coast of Pigeons Island in Nilaveli(Eastern Province) yesterday(25) according to Police.
The deceased University Student was viewing coral reefs with 12 of his fellow university students when the incident has occurred it has been reported.
The life saving officers attached to Nilaveli Police have managed to rescue the Student ,however he has pronounced as dead after being admitted to Nilaveli Hospital,

Health Minister To Approve Future Foreign Tours Of Top Health Officials
In future Top Health Sector Officials should get the approval of Health Minister prior to going abroad according to the Ministry Of Health,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine.
At present Health Ministry Secretary approves the foreign tours of Top Health Sector Officials.The new decision is applying to doctors attached to Provincial Hospital as well the Ministry Of Health has stated.
Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has instructed the Health Ministry Secretary Anura Jayawikrame to issue a circular regarding the new decision.

Out Of The 3800 Doctors Vacancies In Govt.Hospitals 1080 Vacancies Had Filled Already -Health Minister
Out of the 3800 Vacancies of Doctors prevailing in government hospitals island wide 1080 vacancies had been filled during this year up to now and rest of the vacancies scheduled to be filled by June according to Minister Of Health,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.
During the process of filling doctor's vacancies at Government Hospitals island wide justice has done to all the hospitals and Ministry has not filled doctors vacancies according to the wishes of Government Medical Officers Association(GMOA) the Minister has stated .

Drama At The Independent Drug Regulatory Authority As Two Officers Functioning As Chief Executive Officer
The Independent Drug Regulatory Authority today(25) had two Officers to function as Chief Executive Officer(CEO)as Professor krishantha Weerasuriya who is holding the post and faced heavy criticisms from Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has returned to his office at the Authority after being abroad for two weeks while Dr.Kamal Jayasinghe who was appointed as acting CEO by the Health Minister in absence of Professor Weerasuriya too was there.
Minister Of Health Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has last week advised the Health Authorities to take disciplinary action against Professor Krishsantha Weerasuriya for going abroad without getting proper approval from the Health Ministry.
However it has been reported that the aides of Professor Weerasuriya at the Independent Drug Regulatory Authority have stated that Proffesor himself received the approval from Ministry of Health to go abroad.
Although Professor Weerasuriya returned to the island after being abroad and reported to work at his office still there are no reports regarding Health Ministry's decision to take a disciplinary action against him .

Government To Create A Safe Environment Free From Violence For Girls And Women
The Government has decided to implement a stable legal mechanism within next six weeks in view of creating a safe environment free from violence for girls and women according to the Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe's office.
In view of making it reality a special ministerial sub committee is due to be appointed to ensure the creation of such a legal frame work Prime Minister's Office has stated through a statement.
Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe has personally instructed the authorities to develop the mechanism which activate the proposed action plan of creating a safe environment free from violence for girls and women within next six weeks.Prime Minister has also advised the need of having a monitoring procedure to facilitate the plan.

The Terrorist Investigations Division (TID) had yesterday (24)detained the former LTTE Rebel "Ram" at Thambuluvil Area in Ampara(Eastern Province) for questioning according to the Police.

The haul of Heroin in possession of the Pakistani National worth around Rs.87 Million according to the Airport Customs Officers.
