Agriculture Department Has Announced The "Ending Of Sena" Caterpillar -Environmentalists Have Deny Iit

The Department Of Agriculture has recently announced that the "Sena" Caterpillar which destroyed the most of the "Maize " cultivation in the country has now successfully controlled .

However local Environmentalists have stated that the "Sena " Caterpillar threat is still there and theirs a great risk of spreading "Sena " Caterpillar in local cultivation's during next May to November .

Meanwhile it has been decided to cultivate "Maize " within first two weeks of may the yala seasoi SAEASON beginning from 01st of May during a meeting held at Agriculture Department yesterday ( 10)to discuss on controlling "Sena "Caterpillar.

Capital Punishment -Prison Department Has Called Applications For Hangman Post

As President Maithripala Sirisena Has recently told in Parliament that the Capital Punishment

will be imposed on Drug smugglers within next two months ,The Prisons Department has called applications for the Hangman post it has been reported.The closing date for applying Hangman post is 25th of February .

Meanwhile Welikada Prison has sent the hanging rope at the Prison to Sri Lanka Standard Institute for a Standard test as its around 12 years old it has been revealed.

The rope has been imported from Pakistan and if it proves the quality of the rope is not up to standard the Department is planning to purchase a good quality rope for the prison according to reports.

A Person Had Been Arrested With A Haul Of Heroin In Possession

A 39 year old person suspected as a close aide of powerful underworld gang member

"Angoda Lokka" who had been arrested in Dubai, had been arrested by the Police officers attached to Anti Corruption Unit at Walana today (11) whilst transporting 42.40 Grammes of Heroin at Madiwela area (Colombo ).

The suspect along with the haul of Heroin taken in to custody in possession of him had been handed over to Mirihana Police .

The police are due to produce the suspect before court tomorrow(12) to obtain a detention order to question him further .

A Person Was Arrested With 30 Gelignite Bars At Mannar

Sri Lanka Navy along with Mannar Police have arrested a 36 year old persons whilst

transporting 30 Gelignite bars weighing around 03 Kilo Grammes and other equipment including 19 detonators by a Motorcycle from Mannar to South Bar area yesterday (10).

The suspect who is a resident of Mannar area along with the stock of explosives taken in to custody in his possession and his Motorcycle had been handed over to Mannar Police for future course of action it has been revealed.

A Van Had Been Destroyed And Three Motorcycles Damaged Due To A Petrol Bomb Attack In Jaffna

A Van had been burnt and destroyed

and Three Motorcycles had been damaged As a result of throwing Petrol bombs towards a House at Nallur In Jaffna this evening (11) by an unidentified group of persons .

The Van parked at the house had Been burnt and destroyed and Three Motorcycles parked in front of the House had been damaged As well as Windows of the House due to the Petrol Bomb attack it has been reported. A group of persons covered their faces with masks had launched the attack according to reports .

However as gates of the House closed at the time of the incident no one was injured it has been revealed .

The cause of the attack has not yet been revealed .

According to Jaffna Police several Petrol Bomb attacks towards houses had been reported from several areas of Jaffna including Nallur duting recent few days .

Prices Of Petrol And Diesel Are Up

The Price Formula revision Committee

which met this evening (11) at the Ministey Of Finance had decided to increase the Petrol and Diesel prices as a result of the rising fuel prices in the World Market with effect from midnight tonight .

This price increase has been done in accordance with the price formula introduced by the Finance Ministry.

Accordingly a Liter of Octane -92 and Octane -95 Petrol will be increased by Rs.6 and Rs.5 respectively and prices of Auto Diesel and Super Diesel by Rs.4 and Rs.8 per a Liter respectively.

Although the prices of Petrol and Diesel had been increased the prices of the fuel still lower than the prices that were in may 2018 the Ministry of Finance has announced. Therefore there's no need to increase the Bus and Three Wheeler fares the Ministry has stressed .

Health Ministry To Restrict People In Outstations Visiting Govt .Hospitals In Colombo ?

Ministry Of Health is currently

cinsidering to restrict People outside Colombo from visiting Major Government Hospitals in Colombo as outstation Hospitals too now developed with new Medical equipment and human resource personal according to the Ministry.

Under the All Island Service necessary medical equipment and human resource personal had been distributed among rural Hospitals as well the Ministey has stressed .

Therefore visiting Hospitals in Colombo is a burden to the money wallet of the people in outstations Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has stated re entry.

Current Drug Shortage In Government Hospitals To Be Ended By The End Of March

The Drug shortage occurred in

Government Hospitals due to the 53 day political crisis created in last October will be ended by the end of March according to Minister Of Health Dr.Rajitha Senaratne .

Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) has also responsible for this Drug shortage as the Association had advised the Ministey during the crisis period Minister has stressed.At that GMOA Officers had not seen there's a drug shortage in the making Minister has said .

Health Minstry has airlifted the essential Cancer Drugs which were out of stock at Maharagama Apeksha Hospital recently on three occasions he has stated .
