Six persons have been injured and
hospitalized due to a Passanger Bus-Lorry collision at kudaoya on Thanamalvila-Wellawaya road this morning(08).

The injured were admitted to the Thanamalvila Hospital for treatment.

Sixteen SLFP Ministers,Deputy Ministers And State Ministers Voted In Favor Of The No Confidence Motion Requested Permission To Quit Their Posts

Sixteen Ministers,Deputy Ministers and
State Ministers representing Sri Lanka Freedom Party(SLFP)  who had voted in favor of the no confidence motion submitted against Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe had requested yesterday (07) a permission of President Maithripala Sirisena to resign from their posts in the current national government .

The group of SLFP Ministers ,Deputy Ministers and State Ministers due to discuss on the resigning from.their posts of the national government during the Central Committee Meeting of the SLFP scheduled to be held tomorrow(09).

Some of the governing United National Party MP's have too stated that they should not hold any posts of the national government after voting in favor of the no confidence motion against Prime Minister.

Deputy Speaker Thilanga Sumathipala of SLFP was assaulted by some MP's after he was voting in favor of the motion .

A Retired Army Officer Arrested With 1049 Live Bullets And A Pistol In Possession

A 42 year old Retired Army Officer was

  • arrested with 1049 live bullets including T-56 bullets and a Magazine Pistol in his possession  by the officers attached to Anti Organized Crimes Unit of Special Police Task Force yesterday (07) at godagama in Meegoda area.

The suspect is a resident of Godagama in Meegoda and due to be produced before the Homagama Magistrate Court.

Fourteen Member Committee Had Been Appointed To Fill Five Top Posts Of UNP Including It's Leader Before 30 th Of April

A committee comprising of fourteen 
United National Party (UNP) Ministers and MP's  had been appointed to   fill five top posts of  the United National Party including it's leader before 30th of April  during the Party meeting held yesterday (07)regarding the proposed party reforms at the Prime Minister's official residence "Temple Trees " in Colombo.

The committe members have been elected by a secret ballot of UNP MP's and they are due to find out the suitable candidates to fill the posts of leader,Deputy Leader,Assistant Leader ,Chairman and General Secretary of the party before 30 th of April.

The committee is comprising of fourteen  Ministers and MP's including Akila Viraj Kariyawasam,Navin Dissanayake, Ranjith Madduma bandara,Harin Fernando,Gayantha Karunathilake ,Sajith  Premadasa,Ravi Karunanayake,Ruwan Wijewardane , Eran Wikramaratne,Ajith .P.Perera,Nalin Bandara,Ashoka Priyantha,J.C Alawathuwala .

Two Workers Injured After A Part Of A Concrete Slab In Newly Constructed Building Collapsing On To Them

Two workers  attached to a newly
cconstructed three storied building located behind the Dambulla Economic Center were injured and hospitalized this evening(07) after a part of a concrete slab in the third floor of the building collapsed on to them.

The injured were admitted to the Dambulle Base Hospital.

The incident occurred during the laying of the concrete slab at third floor of the building it has been revealed.




A Person.Was Critically Injured After Falling Down From A Precipice In Pahala Kadugannawa

A 28 year old person who was under an

influence of liqour was  critically injured and hospitalized after falling down from the precipice of Pahala Kadugannawa on Colombo-Kandy main road last night(06) it has been reported.

The injured had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Kandy Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Two Were Killed And Two Children Were Injured Due To A Road Accident In Agalawatte

A father (92) and his son (51) who was
attached to a Ministereal security service  were killed and 11 year old boy and 12 year old girl were injured and hospitalized after the Motor Car they were travelling in veering off the road and colliding with a bridge at kalawellawa in Agalawatte today(07).

The four of the injured travelling in the Motor Car were admitted to the Horana Base Hospital for treatment where the father and son had succumbed to their injuries.

The accident has occurred due to the inability of the driver to control the speed of the vehicle according to Police.

Veteran Radio Dubbing Artist And Actress Rathnavali Kakunawela Passed Away

Popular Veteran local actress and Radio dubbing artist Rathnavali Kakunawela popularly known as "Manike" in ever popular long running Sri Lankan Radio Drama "Muwanpalassa" has passed away today (07) at the age of 87.

The late actress had entered the Radio drama field on 21st of December 1951 as a dubbing artist in a drama and later featured in many Radio dramas in Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation and films,tele dramas and stage dramas during her long running career.

Her brother was also a popular Radio dubbling artist late Victor Migel who was featured as the hero  "Kadira" in Muwanpalassa drama.

Late Rathnavali Kakunawela has passed away after prolonging illness and her body is at her residence in 25/1, C Vedikanda road,Ratmalana.

Her funeral is due to be taken place in Borella Cemetery  on this Monday evening.

"May she attained supreme bliss of Nibbana".

Four Youth Were Drowned In Hulu River And One Went Missing While Bathing

Four  youth including three females
and one male had drowned and another youth went missing while bathing in Hulu River at Panvila,Kandy today(07).

Four bodies have been recovered so far and search has ben underway to recover the missing according to Police.

The deceased and the missing person were attached to a Private Company in Kaduwela and they were in Kandy on a trip at the time of the incident.
