Foreign Employment Bureau Has Arrested Two Persons Who Fraudulently Taking Money From Persons To Get Them Employment In Malaysia

The Special Investigations Unit Of the Foreign Employment Bureau has arrested two persons who fraudulently taking money from foreign job seekers by promising them providing an  employment in Malaysia according to the Employment Bureau.

It has been reported that the two suspects had taken Rs.180,000 from a  person by promising them employment opportunities in Malaysia.

The Special Investigations Unit Of The Foreign Employment Bureau has also taken into custody 10 passports in possession of the two detained suspects.The suspects have a  a foreign Employment Agency in Habarana the investigations have revealed.

The two suspects are due to be produced before Kakirawa Magistrate Court.

Scheduled Power Cuts Will Be Suspended Today With The Recommencement Of Operations In Norochchalai Power Plant

The scheduled power cuts will be suspended today(17) with the recommencement of operations at the Norochchalai Coal Power Plant according to Minister Of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.

The Operations of the Norochchalai Coal Power Plant which temporarily halted following the damage done to the major transformer at Biyagama receiving station due to an explosion on last Sunday will be recommenced today the Minister has stated.

Due to the damage done to major transformer at biyagama receiving station, a power failure has been occurred island wide last Sunday.

Prima Flour Company Has Decided To Reduce The Wheat Flour Price During The Consumer Week

The Prima Flour Company has decided to reduce a Kilo Gramme of Wheat Flour using for Bakery Products by Rs.7 during the consumer week which commenced on last Monday.

This Price reduction of  Prima Wheat Flour will be lasted until 20th of March the day Consumer Week is due to conclude. Prima Company has decided to reduce the above mentioned Wheat Flour price according to a request made by Sri Lanka Consumer Affairs  Authority .

Prima Company has also decided to reduce the bread prices during consumer week it has been reported

European Commission Has Signed Two New Support Programmes Worth 38 Million Euros With Sri Lanka

The European Commission has yesterday(16) signed two new support programmes regarding the fields of Rural Development and Trade worth 38 Million Euros with Sri Lanka according to the European Commission.

The two bi lateral agreements have been signed by the visiting European Commissioner for International Corporation And Development Neven Mimica along with Sri Lankan counterparts the Commission has stated.

The European Commissioner Mimica who arrived here on Tuesday held discussions with Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera on removing the ban imposed on  GSP+ for Sri Lankan Apparel Industry  and fish export ban it has been reported.

The visiting European Commissioner is due to hold bilateral talks with Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe before leaving the country today(17).

Eighteen Acres Belonging To Morawaka ,Halagawa And Hemmathagama ,Pahanthimbugala Sanctuaries Had Destroyed Due To Sudden Fires

Fifteen Acres of Land belonging to the Morawaka,Halagawa Sanctuary and Three Acres belonging to the Hemmathagama,Pahanthimbugala Sanctuary have been destroyed due to a sudden fires occurred at the sanctuaries.

Morawaka and Hemmathagama Police Station Officers and the residents of the areas have jointly doused the fires according to the Police Media Unit.

The exact causes for the fires have not yet been identified the Police Media Unit has stated.

Panadura Crimes Unit Arrested Four Suspects With Illegal Firearms And Ammunition In Their Possession

Image result for arrestedThe Crimes Unit of Panadura Police have today(16) arrested four persons including a Police Inspector attached to Police Special Task Force for keeping firearms and ammunition in their possession at Veedagama in Bandaragama(In Western Province)Area.

During the search of the Car the suspects were travelling in Police have found two firearms and twenty nine bullets without licenses.

The four suspects who are residents of Awissawella,Dambulla,Anuradhapura and Deniyaya Areas are due to be produced before Horana Magistrate Court.

Electronic Media Journalists Lodged A Complaint Against Ports Authority Chairman Dhammika Ranathunge For Threatening Them

Few Electronic Media Journalists have today(16) lodged a complaint at Keselwatte Police against the chairman of  Sri Lanka Ports Authority Dhammika Ranathunge who is also the  elder brother of Minister Arjuna Ranathunge for threatening them by using abusive words at  Colombo High Court Premises while  electronic media journalists  were recording video footage of ports authority chairman arriving at the court.

The Ports Authority Chairman Dhammika Ranathunge has threatened the electronic media journalists who were at the court premises to cover the proceedings of bail application filed by former Chief Executive Officer of the Carlton Sports Network T.V Channel Nishantha Ranathunge who is also the brother of Ports Authority Chairman. He  even photographed the faces of Electronic Media Journalists through his mobile phone the journalists have accused. 

Cause Of The Deaths At Dehiwala Identified As Inhalation Of A Toxic Gas

The Post Mortum held regarding the four burnt bodies found at a three storied house at Kawdana,Dehiwala today (16) revealed the probable cause for  the deaths as  inhalation of a toxic gas according to the sources.

The burnt bodies of the mother ,father and two 13 year old girls  were found inside of a house in Dehiwala this morning  by the Dehiwala Police.

Earlier Police have suspected the electrocution as cause of these deaths.

Imprisoned Former CEO Of Carlton Sports Network T.V Channal Nishantha Ranthunge Has Been Released On Bail

Image result for releaseThe former Chief Executive Officer  of the Carlton Sports Network Nishantha Ranathunge who is the fifth suspect remanded over money laundering charges along with former president Mahinda Rajapakshe's second son Yoshitha Rajapakshe and three others has been released on bail today(16) by the Kaduwela Magistrate Court.

Ranathunge who is the younger brother of Minister Arjuna Ranathunge was released on cash bail of Rs.100,000 and two personal bails of Rs.1 million each it has been reported.

The other four suspects remanded over money laundering charges have been released on bail on Monday by the Colombo High Court after considering their  bail applications and Nishantha Ranathunge was released on bail today due to filing a separate bail application.

Trading At Colombo Stock Exchange Temporarily Stopped Due To A Power Failure

The trading at the Colombo Stock Exchange has temporarily stopped this morning for around 20 minutes due to a sudden power failure occurred at Stock Exchange at World Trade Center Building in Colombo.

However the trading has recommenced after  20 minutes following the restoration of power  it has been reported.

The Ceylon Electricity Board(CEB) has imposed a Seven and half hour power cuts throughout the island today (16) as earlier announced.

Four Burnt Bodies Have Recovered From A Residence In Dehiwala

The Dehiwala Police have today (16) recovered Four Burnt Bodies  from same family  including two children who have suspected as died due to an electrocution at a residence in Kawdana,Dehiwala(In Colombo District.

Dehiwala Police have recovered the burnt bodies per an information received this morning.Police have later identified the deceased as the Mother,Father,Daughter and Relative's Daughter.

 Dehiwala Police are conducting further investigations on the incident.
