Colombo High Court Sentenced Drug Smuggler Kanjipani Imran A Six Years Rigorous Imprisonment
Colombo High Court had today (23) sentenced the drug smuggler and underworld gang leader Kanjipani Imran who had been arrested along with drug smuggler Makandure Madush in Dubai recently .a six year rigorous imprisonment over the charges of keeping in possession and smuggling 5.200 Kilo Grammes of Cannabis .
Attorney General had filed the court case against Kanjipani Imran over the charges of keeping in possession and smuggling 5.300 Kilo Grammes of Cannabis at Maligawatte area on 13th of September 2018 .When the case against the accused taken up for hearing by Colombo High Court Judge Gihan Kulathunge today (23) Kanjipani Imran had found guilty over the charges .

GMOA Concluded Most Unsuccessful One Day Strike In Government Hospitals
The most unsuccessful Island Wide one day token Strike in History launched by the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA)yesterday (22) had ended this morning(23) .
GMOA had launched this strike over a Drug shortage in Government Hospitals (created by them )and appointments given to Medical Officers who had not passed G..CE Advanced Level Exam .
However more than 80 percent of Doctors attached to Government Hospitals have avoid participating in the strike it has been reported .

Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage Had Been Appointed As The Army Chief Of Staff
Commander of the Volunteer Force of Sri Lanka Army Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage has been appointed as the new chief of staff of Sri Lanka Army with effect from today (23) the Sri Lanka Aemy Headquarters Had announced today.

Another Army Intelligence Officer Arrested Over Keith Nohyar Abduction Incident

(CID)had yesterday (22)arrested a Sargent Major attached to the Army Intelligence Unit Chamaka Sumith Kumara over abducting and assaulting of former Deputy Editor of the "Nation "Newspaper Keith Nohyar at CID Headquarters in Colombo.
The suspected Army official was arrested upon his arrival at the CID Headquarters to give a statement regarding the abduction and assault of Deputy Editor .He was also responsible for assaulting Provincial Journalist Namal Kumara at kirulapona on 03rd of June 2008 it has been revealed.
The suspect is scheduled to be produced before an identification parade regarding the assaulting of Provincial Journalist.
He was later ordered to Remand until 27 th of August by the Mount Lavinia Magistrate after being produced before him this noon.
Altogether 09 suspects had been arrested and remanded over the Keith Nohyar incident and the Mount Lavinia Magistrate had today released the 09 th suspect remanded over the incident Army Intelligence unit officer Lalith Rajapaksha on bail today .

President Sirisena Had Not Extended The State Of Emergancy
Government has today (23)decided not
to extend the State Of Emergancy further After Four months since its implementation following the Easter Sunday Bomb attacks according to Government sources.
President Maithripala Sirisena had implemented the state of Emergancy after the Easter Sunday attacks since 22nd of April and since then it has been extended monthly until 22nd of July through an extra ordinary Gazette Notification.
However President has not signed an extra ordinary Gazette Notification this time and government printer has confirmed it acording to reports.
Due to the Easter Sunday attacks around 258 persons had been killed and many had been injured and hosputalized .
