Colombo High Court Sentenced A Drug Smuggler A life Imprisonment

Colombo High Court Judge Vikum Kaluarachchi has today(21) sentenced a Person rigorous 
 life in imprisonment after found guilty over keeping  347 Grammes of  Heroin  in his possession. .


The suspect was charged over keeping in possession  and smuggling the  Haul of Heroin   on or near 21 th of August  2012 .

Special Police Task Force personal  have arrested the suspect who is a resident of Borella area . and The Attorney Genera; had filed indictments against the accused .


Nine Persons Had Been Arrested With 59 Pieces Of Gold In Possession At The Airport

Nine persons including Six Indians and Three Sri Lankanas had been arrested by the Airport
Customs Officers  whist attempting to smuggle 59  twenty four carrot Gold pieces weighing 5.271 Kilo Grammes illegally  to the country at Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport today (21).

The suspects who had arrived at Katunayake Airport from Chennai,India have hidden the Gold pieces inside their cloths and mouth it has been revealed.

The estimated value of the Gold pieces the suspects attempted to smuggle is around Rs.40 million .

The Three Sri Lankan suspects among those arrested are of the ages 23,52 and 64 years residing in Vavuniya,Kandy and Kadugannawa areas according to customs.

Two Persons Had Drowned Whilst Bathing In Southern Seas

Two persons of the ages 66 and 17 years old had drowned whilst bathing in Akurala Sea coastal
area in Ambalangoda (Southern Province ) yesterday (21).

The deceased who were residents of Karandeniya area had been drifted away due to strong sea waves whilst bathing with a group of persons it has been revealed.

However   Police officers attached to Balapitiya Police along with villagers of the area have managed to rescue them and admitted to Balapitiya Hospital .They had succumbed to their injuries after admission according to sources.

Police Have Closed Down Ward Place Due To A Students Protest

Police have closed down the Ward Place in Colombo-07 in front of the University Grants
Commission building  this noon (21) due to a University students protest march organized by Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) this noon .

A heavy traffic had been experienced in many roads in and around Town Hall area for  hours due to the Protest march it has been revealed.

The protest march which began from Institute of Aesthetic studies in Colombo  was  conducted by the students of Ruhuna University by demanding solutions for several of their demands .

The protest march marched towards the Ward place .

Eight Passengers Had Been Injured Due To Bus Collision

Eight Bus passengers had been injured and hospitalized after Two Private Buses they were
travelling in colliding with each other  near a Anuradhapura-Nochchiyagama farm at Puttalam-Anuradhapura A-12  main Road  today (21) 


The injured including a female and a child had been admitted to Anuradhapura General (03) and Nochchicyagama(05)  Hospitals .

The incident occurred as a result of not being  able to control  at   high speed of  one of the buses travelling from Colombo to Mannar it has been revealed.The injured are residents of Rajanganaya,Saliyawewa  and Thalawa areas .

Police have arrested the driver of the Bus which unable to control the speed in connection of the accident .
