Doctors To Be Advised To Prescribe Drugs Under Generic Name Only Soon-Health Minister
Soon after the setting up of proposed Drug Quality
Assuarance Laboratory funded by Chinese Governmrnt here Doctors will be advised to prescribe drugs for patients under generic name only according to the Minister of Healh Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.
According to the National Drug Policy implemented at present Doctors are allowed to prescribe drugs under trade name too as an option besides prescribing drugs under generic name.
Minister has revealed this during the launching of five western drugs including Paracetamol manufactured by State Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Corporation (SPMC)held at Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo last Wednesday (07).

Colombo High Court Given Permission To Former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapakshe And His Former Ministry Secretary To Leave Abroad
Colombo High Court has yesterday (08)given
permission to Former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapakshe and Former secretary to the Ministry Dr.Nihal Jayathilake who had been charged for misappropriation of Rs.2991 million belonging to Divi Naguma Department to distribute Celing Sheets to Divi Naguma Beneficieries during the presidential election, to travel abroad for medical treatment.
Accordingly the former minister Basil Rajapakshe has been given permission to leave USA for medical treatment until 02nd of March.
They were allowed to leave abroad on two personal bonds of Rs.500 million and an surety bond of Rs.500 million.

Police Department Has Suspended The Service Of The Chief Inspector Of Panadura Police Station
Police Department has today (08) suspended the
service of Chief Inspector attached to Panadura Police station(Colombo) with immediatte effect due to the missing of three firearms of the Police Station.
Two out of the three firearms which went missing had been recovered during the investigations and one firearm is still untracable according to Police.
The further investigations on the incident are being carriedout under the supervision of a senior police officer attached to Panadura Police division.

The Gazette Notification Issued In 1818 Which Declared 19 Local freedom Fighters As" Traitors" Annulled
President Maithripala Sirisena has today (08) annulled
the Gazette Notification issued by British rulers during the colonial period in 1818 which declared 19 Sri Lankan Freedom Fighters including Kappetipola Disawe who launched the 1818 rebellion as "Traitors".
Accordingly all 19 freedom fighters who launched the Wellassa Rebellion in 1818 will become National Heroes with effect from today (08) the Presidential Media Division has stated.

Colombo Supreme Court Confirmed The Death Sentence Imposed Against A Ukrainian National
Colombo Supreme Court has today(08) confirmed the death sentence imposed on a Ukranian National who was accused over murdering a female and her small child at a residence in Galpoththa,Nawala area after the suspect had appealed against the Supreme Court's verdict on sentenced him to death earlier.
However Supreme Court has today released the other accused Ukrainian National female who was sentenced to death by the Court earlier over the death .
The murder of a female and her child occurred in 2010.Both the Ukrainian Nationals had appealed against their deaths sentences.

Sri Lanka Navy Arrested 12 Local Fishermen While Engaging In Illegal Fishing Activities
The Sri Lanka Navy had today(08) arrested 12 local fishermen for illegally fishing in the Sri Lankan Waters Off Silawathurai.
Without a valid fishing permit the 12 arrested local fishermen were engaged in fishing by using unauthorized nets at the time of their arrest the Navy have stated.
Navy Officers have taken into custody three mono filament nets,four dinghi boats and three diving masks in the possession of fishermen it has been reported.The Navy had handed over the suspected fishermen and their equipment to the fisheries director in Mannar for further investigations.

A 26 Year Old Person Remanded Over Issuing Death Threats To President,Prime Minister And Opposition Leader Through FB
A 26 year old person has been remanded today(08) by the Colombo Chief Magistrate until 15th of December over issuing death threats to the President Maithripala Sirisena ,Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe and the Opposition Leader R.sampnathan from playing a sound clip through Facebook .
The suspect Dinush Chamara of Rathgama area (In Southern Province ) was remanded after being produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court.
