The Rs.2.5 Million Unsettled Hospital Bill Of Late Singer Prince Udaya Priyantha



The much talked about incident in the Art field here during last few days is the Rs.2.5 million unsettled hospital bill in Nawaloke Hospital in Colombo need to be paid behalf of the late singer Prince Udaya Priyantha  who had received treatment at the hospital for sometime.

The Singers Association here and the younger sister of the late singer Prince Udaya Priyantha who was taking care of her brother throughout his illness now appealing from his fans to contribute some way to settle the hospital bill.The body of the singer had released by the hospital of an assuarance of the family members that the bill will be settled within a one month period it has been stated.

The family members of late singer sometime ago tried to sell two of the popular songs of  late singer with the permission of their owners to find money for the treatment of  Prince.

Prince Udaya Priyantha was also a product of National youth Services Council like the singers Chandralekha Perera,Shirley Waijyantha and Chandrasena Hettiarachchi.

His funeral is due to take place in Elpitiya today (11).



A Female Was Electrocuted When She Tried To Remove An Electric Wire

A 63 year old female was electrocuted in Mirissa
area,Weligama yesterday (10).

The deceased who was a resident of Mirissa area was electocuted when she tried to remove an electric wire fallen on to the road acvording to the police.

A Person Was Drowned While Bathing In Mahaweli River

A person had drowned and disappeared while bathing
in the dangerous spot of the Mahaweli river near the slave island at Varathanne,Gannoruwa it has been reported.

The missing person went to the river with a group of his friends after attending a wedding held in a hotel at Kandy on friday evening (09).

Naval officers had launched a search operation to find the missing since his disappearence.

A Youth Motorcyclist Was Killed Due To A Road Accident

A youth was killed after the Motorcycle he was riding
veering off the road and toppled over in Galkulama area in ,Anuradhapura in wee hours of last morning (10).

The youth who was a resident of Dambagollawe area faced this incident when he was returning after attending poson celebrations in Anuradhapura with his friends.

Landslide Warnings Issued To Seven Districts Further Extended

The landslide warnings issued by the National
Building Research Organization (NBRO) to seven districts has been further extended yesterday (10)for another 24 hours up to 2 p.m today (11) mainly due to rainy weather.

Accordingly landslide warnings issued to Ratnapura ,Kegalle, Kalutara, Galle, Matara,Hambanthota and Nuwara Eliya have been  extended .People in these areas are being advised to be vigilant on landslide signs including cracks and flowing of mud water.


A Four Year Old Girl Child Has Died After Swallowing Too Many Iron Tablets

A four year old girl child has died after swallowing of
too many iron tablets belongs to the child's mother in Ganemulle area according to the police.

The incident occurred while the mother of the child was in the bathroom it has been revealed.

At the post mortem held in Gampaha Hospital it has been revealed that the death of the child caused due to swallowing overdose of iron tablets .

Thalawakele-Dayagama Main Road Completely Blocked Due To A Descend Of A Containter Truck

Transport activities of Thalawakele-Dayagama main
road had completely blocked since this morning (09)due to a descend of a containter truck transporting 28 tonnes of Grass it has been reported.

The container truck which transported grass from Thalawakele to the Animal Farm in  Dayagama had descended from one side at third post in nagasena area around 8 a.m according to the police.

Due to this situation police have advised motorists to use an alternative routes when travelling.Only light vehicles  are allowed to use the blocked road it has been reported.

A four year old girl child was killed after a wall
collapsed on her last evening (09) in Embilipitiya area.

The deceased had been identified as a resident of kiralawelkatuwa in Embilipitiya.

Rs.800 Million Needed To Reconstruct Damaged And Destroyed Roads

It has been estimated that around Rs.800 millon
needed to reconstruct the roads damaged and destroyed due to the adverse weather according to the government.

The Road Development Authority has stated it will ready reconstrut the damaged roads whether they are under government or provincial councils.


Assessment Report On The Damage Caused Due To Adverse Weather To Be Produced By Next Week

The Assessment report on the damage caused due to
the floods and landslides in Sri Lanka recently will be produced by next week according to the Minister Vajira Abeywardena.

Around 92 Divisional Secretariat offices have been completely destroyed and 5700 Grama Seva Divisions affected due to the recent floods and landslides Minister has stated.

Norwegian Government To provide Rs.180 Million Relief Aid To Sri Lankan Flood Victims

Norwegian government has decided to grant Rs.180
million aid to Sri Lanka to provide relief to those displaced and affected due to the adverse weather.

This relief aid will be granted to provide health facilities to displaced and affected females and children as well as to provide education facilities for children it has been stated.
