Police Have Temporarily Closed Down The Entry Point To Galle Face

Image result for lotus road colombo fortPolice have temporarily closed down the entry point to the Galle Face near Lotus Roundabout and Bank Road in Colombo Fort since this morning(15) due to a protest march organized by a group of  retired non pensioners of the government service  it has been reported.

Due to the protest march a heavy traffic has been reported from the area  and Police have requested the motorists to use an alternative routes during travel.

The protestors are planing to handover a petition regarding their demands to the President Maithripala Sirisena it has been revealed.

Police Have Arrested A Person At An Illicit Liquor Business In Nochchiyagama

Police Officers attached to Nochchiyagama Police have
today (14) arrested a person during a raid carried out in an illicit liquor business which maintained in a house  at Ihalagama,Nochchiyagama area .

The raid was carried out as per an information received by the Police.

Four Persons injured Due To A Three Wheeler Accident In Mattala

Four persons including a female were injured and hospitalized due to
 the Three Wheeler they were travelling in toppled over at Mattala in Hambanthota (Southern Province )this morning(14).

The injured were admitted to the Hambanthota general hospital and the condition of the three reported as in critical .

The   Injured  who are residents of Thanamalvila area met with the accident on their way to Hambanthota Divisional Secrerariet to obtain a driving license it has been revealed .




Police Narcotic Bureau Officials Arrested A Lithuanian National With A Stock Of Cocaine At Katunayake

Police Narcotic Bureau officials have today(14)arrested a Lithuanian National
with a stock of Cocaine worth more than RS.30 million in his possession in Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport.

The Narcotic Bureau officials have also arrested two Nigerian Nationals who arrived at the Airport to collect the stock of Cocaine  from the suspect .

The three suspects are being currently  questioned  under detention orders .

A Youth Died After Falling Down From The Mountain Where Rawana Ella Begins

A 27 year old youth has died after falling down from a top of the mountain
where the Ravana (Falls)Ella begins in Bandarawela this noon(14).

The deceased was a resident of the area Police have stated.

Ella Police officers with help of others are attempting to remove the body of the deceased youth which strucked between rocks in the lower part of the Rawana Ella.

A University Student Was Killed Due To A Motor Cycle-Lorry Collision

The 24 year old University Student was admitted to the Welikanda Hospital and had succumbed to his injuries on admission to the Polonnaruwa Hospital for further treatment.

The deceased has been identified as a resident of Matale Distirct.Welikanda Police have arrested the Lorry driver regarding the accident.

Five Estate Workers Hospitalized In Bagawanthalawa Following A Wasp Attack

Five Tea Estate workers were injured and hospitalized today(14) due to a Wasp Attack occurred in a Tea Estate in Bagawanthalawa-Hatton area(Upcountry) it has been reported.

The injured have faced the incident while plucking Tea Leaves in the Estate and they were admitted to the Bagawanthalawa Hospital for treatment according to the Police.

Around 50,000 Foreigners Applying Resident Visas From Sri Lanka Annually

Around 50,000 Foreign Nationals are applying for six month long Resident Visas from Sri Lanka annually according to the Ministry Of Health,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine.

Out of them 60% are applying Resident Visas for employment purposes it has been revealed.

 Foreign Migrants who arrive here with Resident Visas are eligible to receive health services during their stay in Sri Lanka and they are entitled for a medical check up carry out within one month after arrived in Sri Lanka to identify certain diseases the acting Director General Of Health Services Dr.Jayasundara Bandara has stated.

These Foreign Migrants will be provided health care services through the National Health Security Fund as well Dr.Bandara has stressed.

Second International Conference On Migrant Health To Be Held In Colombo Next Week

The second International  Conference(Global Consultation) On Migrant Health is due to be held in Galadari Hotel ,Colombo -Sri Lanka from 21-23 rd of February under the ptaronage of President Maithripala Sirisena ,Director General of World Helath Organization (WHO)Dr.Margrat Chan and Minister Of Health Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.

More than 100 delegates representing governments and non governemntal organization of more than 100 countries are due to be particpated this vital International Conference focusing  on Migrant Health issues according to the Ministry Of Health,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine .

At the end of the Conference a Colombo Declaration which will be mentioned the areas that should strengthen the health issues of Migrants both with valid visas and who are not possesses  valid visas the acting Director General Of Health Services Dr.Jayasundara Bandara has stated during a media briefing held in Health Education Bureau regarding the Conference this morning (14).
