Sri Lanka Police Requested From Dubai Authorities To Expel Udayanga Weerathunge To Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka Police Department had
requested the authorities in Dubai,United Arab Emirates to expell the detained former Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weerathunge to Sri Lanka .

Werathunge was arrested by the Dubai Police last wednesday after a court in Sri Lanka has issued a warrent to arrest him and  produce before tbe court to face a case filed agsinst him over  taking commissions from a Mig Aircraft deal during previous government.

A Person Was Killed After Falling Down From A Building

A 42 year old person was killed after
falling down from the third floor of the five storied newly constructed Government officers official housing scheme building in Polonnaruwa today(30).

The critically injured laborer attached to the construction site had succumbed to his injuries after admission to the Polonnaruwa Hospital.

Polonnaruwa Police are investigating over the incident.

Prisons Commissioner Arrested Over Killings Of Prison Inmates Sent On Compulsory Leave

Prisons Department had taken steps to
sent the Prisons Commissioner Emil Ranjan Lamahewa on compulsory leave over his involvment in the killings of prison inmates at Welikada prison during a riot in the prison in 2012.

Emil Ranjan Lamahewa and Police Inspector Neomal Rangajeewa were arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over the killings of prison inmates and they were remanded until 10 th of April .

However both of them were later transferred to the prisons hospital over an illness it has been revealed.

Further action is due to be taken against the suspected Prisons commissioner after investigating on the incident the department has said.

Three Persons Arrested With Live Bullets And A Sword

Special Police Task Force Personal had
arrested three persons with six live bullets ,A motorcycle and a sword in their possession at Keselwatte area in Colombo.

The arrests were made during a search operation caried out in a House at Keselwatte.

The suspects and materials arrested have been handed over to the Crimes Prevention Division for further investigations.

Six Indian Nationals Were Arrested Over Illegally Staying In Sri Lanka

Chilaw Police had arrested six Indian
nationals illegally staying in the country and working at a hotel in Chilaw yesterday(29).

Police have also arrested the Hotel Manager over helping the suspects to illegally stay in Sri Lanks.

The suspects of the ages 22- 36  years have been remanded until 02 nd of April by the Chilaw Magistrate Court after been produced them before the court today.

Government Has Not Banned Pandals And Dansala's During Vesak And Poson Poya Days-Information Dept.

has insisted today (30) that the government has not decided to ban pandals and dansala's(alms giving centers) during vesak and poson poya days as stated by some media reports.

There's no truth in those reports which quoted Minister of Buddhasasana Gamini Jayawikrama Perera as saying government has banned vesak and poson pandals and dansala's the Department has said.

Anyone can show pandals and conduct dansala's during  vesak and poson poya days the Information Department has stressed.

Four Persons Were Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Road Accident

Four persons have been injured one of them critically and hospitalized after the Cab Vehicle they were traveling in veering off the road and toppled over in to a deep precipice at Ambagahaoya area on Badulle-Mahiyanganaya main road last night(29).

The injured were admitted to the Badulla Hospital.Badulla Police are investigating over the incident.

An Italian National Has Drowned In Nilaweli Sea Area

The body of the deceased had sent to Trincomalee Hospital for the Post Mortum.Nilaweli Police are conducting an investigations over the incident.

A Nepali National With Heroin Pills In His Stomach Was Arrested At The Airport

Police Anti Narcotic Bureau officers  have today (30) arrested a Nepali National arrived in Katunayake,Bandaranaike International Airport from Dubai via Pakistan by hiding pills contains Heroin inside his stomach.

During the questioning the suspect had revealed that he had swallowed Heroin Pills and later he was admitted to the Negambo Base Hospital to remove the pills from his stomach accoridng to the Police Media Spokesman's Office.

After admission to the Hospital .Doctors had removed eight Heroin Pills from Nepali National's stomach it has been revealed.

The suspect is due to be questioned further regarding Heroin Pills and Police is in the process of getting a detention order from the Minuwangoda Magistrate Court to question the suspect.

A 17 Year Old School Boy Had Drowned In Mahaweli River

A 17 year old School Boy had drowned while bathing in Mahaweli River at Gampola area yesterday(29).

The deceased along with a group of his school friends yesterday arrived in Gampola to view their G.C.E Ordinary level examination results and afterwards went to bath in Mahaweli River it has been revealed.

While bathing ,the deceased had fallen in to a Sand hole in the river and died  according to reports.

Few Houses Were Damaged Due To A Fire In Estate Houses In Galaha

Police and Residents of the area had doused the fire.

Veteran Journalist And Former Feature Editor of "Sunday Divaina' Newspaper Chandrasiri Dodangoda and Senior Medical Consultant Dr.Ariyasena .U.Gamage had passed away this week after prolonging illness .

 Both were humble human beings who were always helping others during their careers with good human Qualities.Veteran Journalist and Former Feature Editor Chandrasiri Dodangoda was 66 years old at the time of his death and also edited the popular Cinema Magazine of Sunday Divaina ,"Meewitha "Tabloid,He was also an author of many popular novels in Sri Lanka including "Mage Sanda Oba " and "Bashmavashesha" .His funeral was taken place at Eldeniya Cemetery in Kadawatha last evening(29).

Dr.Ariyasena .U.Gamage was another humble human being who was keen to educate the Society on non communicable diseases especially Diabetes.He wrote  popular books like "Diayawediyawa Mata Dan Suwai " and "Rajek Unath Ledek Unoth"  and also  involved in educating others on Cancer which he too was  suffering at the time of his sudden death.

May they attain supreme bliss of nibbana.
