Around 3000 Tanks In Anuradhapura And Polonnaruwa Have Been Dried Up Due To The Drought

Due to the current drought 3000 out of the 3300
medium and small size tanks in Anuradhapura and polonnaruwa districts have been dried up according to the sources.

Due to this situation people living in areas including Madawachchiya,Thanthirimale,Horowpathana ,Kebithigollawa and wilachchiya are being faced enormous difficulties including shortage of drinking water .

Authorities have taken steps to distribute drinking water to the affected people through bousers  it has been reported.

Two Persons Were Arrested With 37 Unlicensed Timber Logs

Special Police Task Force personal have arrested two
persons over illegally transporting 37 unlicensed timber logs  at kahagolla area on Diyathalawa-Bandarawela road.

Police personal have also taken into custody  the Lorry used to transport the timber logs .The value of the timber logs taken into custody is around Rs.100,000 it has been stated.

The two suspects along with the lorry have been handed over to the Haputhale wild life office for further action.

New Inland Revanue Act To Be Presented To The Parliament In August

The new inland revanue act is due to be presented to
the Parliament and getting approved during  the third week of August according to the Minister of Finance and Media Mangala samaraweera.

Through the act government aims to reduce the indirect taxes imposed on public from 80% to 60% and increase the direct taxes from 20% to 40% during next three years Minister has stated.

The act will be approved after adding the amendments proposed by the Supreme Court and Parliament it has been stated.

Two Trade Stalls Were Destroyed And A House Was Damaged Due To A Fire

Two trade stalls were burnt and completely destroyed
and a house was partially damaged due to a sudden fire erupted in the lower street in Pundaluoya area yesterday (21).

The fire brigade in Nuwara Eliya along with the residents of the area and Police have doused the fire before spreading it further.

No casualties have been reported due to the incident and Police believed a current leak may have caused the fire.

Three Customs Officers Have Been Transferred Over Recovering A Haul Of Cocaine

Three customs officers attached to the Orugodawatte
 Container yard, including a deputy Customs director general have been transferred with immediatte effect until the investigations on the haul of Cocaine recovered in a sugar container are completed.

These officers attached to the customs central goods investigation unit , have been transferred to the Customs administration Unit until the investigations carry out by the Customs department regarding the incident completed it has been revealed.

More than 218 kilo grammes of Cocaiane has been recovered in a sugar container imported from Brazil.

Police Arrested A Doctor And Six Females Attached To A Brothel House

Police have arrested an Ayurveda doctor and six
females attached to a Brothel House maintained on the pretext of an Ayurveda Massage Center (SPA) in Periyamulla,Negambo area.

A female Police officer along with a group of police officeres in  civilian cloths attached to the organized crimes raid unit of the Colombo Division had made this arrest as per a court order issued by the Negambo Court.

The suspects have been remanded until 25th of July after being produced before the Negambo Court today (21).

The arrested females are residents of Galle, Ragama, Kurunagala,Negambo,Seeduwa and Kandy areas and the doctor is a resident of Colombo it has been revealed.

Meanwhile the female owner of the SPA has stated that a group of persons in civilian cloths and a female officer arrested the females and a doctor working for the SPA which is a registered institute.The persons arrested the workers have damaged the CCTV Cameras and also taken money,docuements and licences belonging to the institute she has stressed.

A 25 Year Old Person Was Killed On The Spot After Colliding With A Train

A 25 year old person was killed on the spot  after colliding with a train traveling from Colombo to Batticaloa yesterday(20) near the Army Camp in Tharaimadu,Batticaloa.

The deceased was a resident of Batticaloa district it has been revealed.

Medical Students To Conduct Protest Campaigns From Next Monday(24)

The Government Medical Officers Associaton(GMOA) has today(21) handed over a petition to the Colombo Office of United Nations High Commission  for Refugees by stating that the government is adapting a policy of repressing the students of the country .

 

Boats Withdrawn From Ports To Be Destroyed To Prevent The Spreading Of Dengue-Health Ministry

Image result for withdrawn boats of sri lanka portsMinistry Of Health has decided to destroy the Boats withdrawn from the service by Ports throughout the Island to prevent spreading of Dengue through the Dengue Mosquito larvae breeding sites of these boats.

Health Ministry is due to be taken steps to destroy these boats with assistance of Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic resources.It has been revealed that a large number of Dengue Mosquito larvae breeding sites are there inside these unused boats attached to the ports.

This has been widely discussed during a meeting of Government Hospital directors held at the Health Ministry Auditorium today(21).

Private Hospitals/Laboratories Should Issue The FBC Test Reports Of Dengue Patients Within Two Hours-Health Minister

Image result for full blood count testThe Private Hospitals and Laboratories should issue the Full Blood Count (FBC) test reports of Dengue Patients  within two hours after the blood was taken in order to using it for treating Dengue Patients effectively according to the Minister Of Health Dr.Rajittha Senaratne.

A large number of complaints have  been received by the Health Ministry from Doctors by stating that the Private Hospitals and Laboratories are not issuing the Full Blood Count test reports within 2 hours to treat Dengue patients effectively.The FBC test  Reports issued after more than two hours are not valid and  cannot be used when treating Dengue Patients he has stressed.

Therefore Health Minister has urged the private sector to issue FBC Test reports of Dengue Patients within two hours time without a delay .

If the Private sector continues the  delaying of   issuing  FBC Test reports to Dengue patients all the Dengue patients should have come to the Government Hospitals for treatment and thsese Hospitals issue the FBC Test reports within one hour period and the Colombo National Hospital issue the test reports within ten minutes .
