Sri Lanka's Caroline Jurie Won The Mrs.Wotld Title

Sri Lanka's Caroline Jurie has crowned as Mrs.World 2020 few hours ago at the Mrs.World pageant held in Los Vegas ,USA .

This is the first time a Sri Lankan won this title after Rosy Senanayake current Mayor in Colombo had won the title in 1984.

51 contestents have been participated the event .

Historical Somawathiya Temple Site Submerged Due To Floods


The historical Somawathiya Religious site (Puja Bhumiya )and the road lead to it at Polonnaruwa are being three feets under water since yesterday(06)due to the floods caused by heavy showers prevailing in there accodance to the Chief incumbent of the Somawathiya Rajamaha Temple Pahamune Sumangala Thero .

The food and relief are being  transported tbrough boats to those  Buddhist monks and workers who are  stranding  at the Religious site and Army ,Police and Divisional secretariet workers are being transported the relief .

Government Banned Import And Re Export of Several Spices And Re Export Garbage

Government has issued a Gazette
Notification yesterday (05)  banning the import and re export of several spices including Pepper,Tamarind ,Cinnamon ,Arecanuts ,Cardamom, and Cloves with effect from midnight last night  .

Due to the ban the price of a kilo gramme of Pepper has been increased Rs.450 to Rs.800-850  it has been reported .

Finance Minister Mahinda Rajapakshe had taken this decision to protect minor crop cultivators and small and medium scale industrialists it has been announced .

The Gazette notification has also banned re export of Garbage ,Garbage processing and resource recycling process .However this ban not affected  the local garbage recycling projects government has announced .

A Former Accountant Had Been Sentenced To 367 Year Inprisonment Over Steeling More Than Rs.2.1 Million

Mahendren had today(06) sentenced an Accountant formerly attached to  a private Company in Colombo to 367 year rigorous imprisonment over cheating more than  Rs.2.1 million belonging to the company by submitting fraudulent documents .

High Court Judge  had also fined the accused Accountant Hikkaduwa Liyanage Nandasiri  who found guilty on charges levelled against him and fled away by avoiding courts ,Rs.2.1 million .Judge Mahendren has also issued open warrents to arrest and produce the accused before the court .

The accused had worked as an Accountant for the private complany between 04 th of January  2000 to 03rd of January 2001 and Attorney General had filed 10  indictments at High Court  against the accused  .




National Police Commission Had Approved the Transferes Of 60 Police Officers

National Police Commission had
approved the transfers of 60 Police officers including 04 Deputy Inspector Generals Of Police (DIG)  accordance to the request made by Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chandana Wikramaratne .

Accordingly National Police Commission has approved the transferes of 60 Police Officers including 04 DIG's ,20 Police OIC's ,11 Supirintendents of Police and 08 Senior supirintendents of Police (SSP).
