A Report Regarding Money Laundering Charges Against MP Namal Rajapakshe Handed Over To The Attorney General

Image result for namal rajapaksaThe Police have informed the Colombo Fort Magistrate today (08) that a report on the ongoing investigations regarding money laundering charges against Hambanthota MP Namal Rajapakshe has been handed over to the Attorney General.

This observation had been made when the case on money laundering charges was taken up for hearing by Colombo Fort Magistrate.

MP Rajapakshe was earlier detained by the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division in connection with the money laundering charges and later released on bail.


Two Former Ministers Had Given Statements To The Presidential Commission Of Inquiry

Image result for presidential commission of inquiryTwo former Ministers Johnston Fernando and Rohitha Abeygunawardena had today (08) given statements to the Presidential Commission Of Inquiry regarding the allegations leveled against them according to sources.

Accordingly the former minister Johnston Fernando had given a statement to the commission regarding importing a rice stock to "Sathosa" during the previous government without getting Cabinet Approval.

The former minister Rohitha Abeygunawardena had given a statement to the commission regarding the allegation leveled against him on misuse of public funds at the water filling ceremony and the opening ceremony of Hambanthota Harbor in 2010.

Sri Lanka To Inform WHO That The Country Has Eliminated Malaria

Image result for MALARIAThe Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine has decided to inform the World Health Organization[WHO] in this September that Sri Lanka has eliminated the Disease Malaria from the country and eligible to receive the WHO certification regarding it.

The Ministry will be informed on this during a regional health conference scheduled to be held in early September this year the Director General Of Health Services Dr.Palitha Mahipala has stated today[08] during a press briefing held at the Health . 

Sri Lanka has already eliminated filaria from the country and received the WHO certification last July.

Health Ministry Has Invited The Oncolologists To Discuss On Controversial Russian Made Cancer Drug Supplied To The Cancer Hospital

Image result for cancer drugsThe Ministry of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine has invited the Oncologists[Cancer Specialists] attached to the Maharagama Cancer Hospital to discuss why the some oncologists are refusing to administer  the controversial Russian Made Drug "Herticad" to the patients which  supplied  to the  hospital.

The drug which is widely used  to treat breast cancer had been refused to use by  some oncologists attached to the Cancer Hospital  citing quality problems it has been reported.

oncologists here earlier administered. The drug made in Switzerland but as it is expensive the Independent drug regulatory authority had decided to purchase the Russian Made "Herticad",drug which is cheaper than the  earlier drug made  in Switzerland.

Although the price is low, the quality of the Russian Made Drug Is up to the standard the Health Ministry has stated.
