Public Utilities Commission Members Approved 66 Percent Electricity Bill Hike - Chairman Opposed

 The three members of the Public Utilities Commission had opposed the 36 percent Electricity bill increase proposed by the Chairman of the Commission and approved a proposal suggesting 66 percent Bill increase which will be a burden to the consumers according to the chairman of the Public Utilities Commission Janaka Ratnayake . The 66 percent increase of the Electricity bill will be implemented with effect from tomorrow(15) Public Utilities Commission has stated ,Due to the approved proposal of increasing the electricity bill by 66 percent the Electricity Consumers have to bear an extra  cost of Rs.287 billion annually  .There will be a 250 percent increase on Electricity bills for  those who are utilizing less then 90 units of Electricity monthly he has further added ,
