New Chairman Has Been Appointed To The Public Utilities Commission

The Constitutional Council has appointed the Professor Manjula Fernando attached to the University Of Peradeniya as the New chairman of the Public Utilities Commission His name was,proposed to the Constitutional council by President Ranil Wikramasinghe.

The New Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission Professor Fernando has assumed his duties today(23).The previous chairman of the Public Utilities Commission waa ousted through parliament vote .

Next Friday Has Been Declared As A Special Bank Holiday

The Ministry Of Public Administration had announced this coming Friday (30) as a special Bank Holiday .

The Minister of Public Administration and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardane had issued a special Gazette notification in this regard.

A 16 Hour Long Water Cut To Be Implemented Tomorrow (24)

A 16 Hour Long Water Cut is scheduled to be implemented in 05 divisions at Colombo District tomorrow (24) from 8 a.m to 12 in the midnight due to an essential maintainance work according to the National Water Supplies And Drainage Board.

Accordingly this 16 hour long Water cut will be implemented in Colombo 11,12,13,14 and 15 due to an essential maintainance work at Ambathale water purification plant the Board has,stated.

A 68 Year Old Female Had Died After Colliding With A Motorcycle

A 68 year old female had died after colliding with a,Motorcycle at a level crossing in Hadapangoda area in Kalutara District (Western Province) today (23).

The deceased was crossing the road to reach the Samurdhi Bank at the time of the incident and succumbed to her injuries after been admitted to Horana Base Hospital for treatment.

The 19 year old Motorcyclist was also admitted to the Horana Base Hospital for treatment according to the Police.The deceased was a resident of Padukka area,and the Mototcyclist do not have a driving license it has been revealed.
