Special Commission Appoinred To Inquire On Irregularities Of Sri Lankan Airlines To Be Commenced Work In Two Weeks Time-President

The Special commission appointed to

inquire on fraud and irregularities of the Sri Lankan Airlines will commence collecting of information and evidence regarding fraudulant activities of the Airlines within next two weeks according to President Maithripala Sirisena .

President Sirisena has revealed this during the discussion held with the representatives of the Joint Trade Union Alliance today(25).

The Union leaders had expressed the need to improve the quality and standard of the Airlines to cater the needs of the Air passangers.

UNP Party Reforms: Minister Akila Viraj Appointed As The New General Secretary Of The Party

The Political Council of the Governing

United National Party (UNP)has approved to appoint Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam as the new General Secretary of the Party and former Secretary Kabir Hashim as the new Party Preident .

The Council also approved to appoint Minister Navin Dissanayake as the new National Organizer of the UNP ,Minister Sajith Premadasa as Deputy Leader and Former Minister Ravi Karinanayake as new vice president it has been announced.

State Minister Ruwan Wijewardane to appoint as new Assistant Secretary,Minister Harin Fernando as new UNP Media Secretary and Dr.Harsha De Silva appointed as new Treasurer of the party.

These appointments due to be finalised during the working committee meeting of the UNP due to be held tomorrow(26).

A Police Constable Was Killed Due To A Tipper Truck- Motorcycle Collision

A 47 year old Police constable attached to the Gampaha Office of State Intelligence Division was killed due to a Tipper Truck-Motorcycle collision at Galkanda-Minuwangoda area on Minuwangoda-Divulapitiya road today(25).

The accident occurred while the Police

Constable riding his Motorcycle on an official work and colliding with a Tipper truck arrived in from the back side when the truck attempted to overtake the Motorcycle it has been revealed.

Police have arrested the Tipper truck driver and his assistant over the incident.

Eight Sri Lankans Went To Austalia By A Boat Were Expelled To Sri Lanka

Australian government had expelled eight Sri Lankans who went to there by a Boat from Sri Lanka and soon after they arriving today(25) at Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officers have arrested them for questioning it has been reported.

The eight suspects have been released on surety bail of Rs.100,000 each and Rs.10,000 cash bail each by the Minuwangoda Magistrate Court after been produced them before the court .The eight suspects have been ordered to appear before the court on 11th of September this year.

A 40 Year Old Indian National Has Died After Falling Down In A Toilet At Katunayake Airport

A 40 year old Indian National has died after admitting to the Negambo Base Hospital following a fall inside the Toilet attached to Katunayake,Bandaranaike International Airport this morning(25).

The deceased Indian National had arrived in Katunayake Airport from Riyadh,Saudi Arabia and awaited for his transit flight to fly to India at the time of the incident it has been revealed.

The cause of the death has not yet been revealed.

Colombo-Kandy Main Road Was Temporarily Closed Due To A Student Protest

A Heavy traffic is being reported from Colombo-Kandy main road at present due to the temporary closure of the road in front of the Kelaniya University ,as a result of a protest launched by a group of University students this noon (24).

The Colombo-Kandy Main road was closed in front of the Kelaniya University after the group of students attached to the University had protested blocking the road it has been revealed.

Police have requested the motorists to use an alternative roads due to this situation.

A 65 Year Old Female Was Killed And Six Others Injured Due To Van-Lorry Collision

A 65 year old female was killed and six others have been injured and hospitalized due to a head on collision between Lorry and a Van at palawiya area on Puttalam-Colombo main road this noon (25).
The injured few of them critically were admitted to the Puttalam Base Hospital for treatment.The dead female and all the injured were traveling in the Van at the time of the incident it has been revealed.

The deceased was identified as a resident of Puttalam area.

The high speed Van was toppled over on the road after colliding with the Lorry and the accident occurred due to the inability of the Van driver to control the speed of the vehicle according to the Puttalam Traffic Police.
