Police Arrested 33 Activist Over Holding A Protest Campaign -Recommended Them To Be Sent For Quarantine

Welikada  Police have arrested 33 persons  including trade union leaders and university students over holding a protest campaign at Parliament Road in Battaramulla yesterday (08) against Kothalawala Defense  Act .by violating quarantine laws .They were later released after producing before Colombo Additional Magistrate on Rs.25,000 person bail each , 

However Welikada Police had informed the Magistrate that all 33 should have sent for 14 day quarantine accordance to the report submitted by Battaramulla MOH ,

Police Have Arrested 266 Persons Over Violating Quarantine Rules

 Police have arrested 266 Persons during last 24 hours over violating quarantine rules according to Police Department ,

Police are due to file court cases against those who have arrested it has been revealed .Police have arrested 48,808 persons over violating quarantine rules since the first outbreak of Corona virus last year  according to Police Media spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana .

Meanwhile Police have sent back 205 persons who had attempted to enter western province from outstation areas violating inter provincial travel restrictions imposed in the country during last 24 hours .

40 Corona Deaths Were Reported Yesterday (08)

 Another 40 Corona deaths were reported yesterday (08), increasing the total number of Corona Deaths reported so far to 3391 according to National Covid -19 Prevention Center .


Accordingly 29 males and 11 females had died due to Corona infection .Out of the deceased 28 were over 60 years of age it has been revealed . 


1223 Corona Positives Had Been Reported Today (08)

 Another 1223. corona Positives had been reported in the country today (08),Increasing the total number of Corona positives reported so far to 269,946 according to National Covid -19 Prevention Center. 


At the moment 27,011 Corona Positives are being treated at Government hospitals and treatment centers it has been revealed .
