A Cab Driver Was Critically Injured Due To A Cab-Bus Collision

A  Cab Driver was critically injured and hospitalized after the Cab he was driving colliding with a Private Bus at Hatton ,Vanrajawatte area in Hatton-Bagawanthalawa main Road last evening(08).

The Critically injured Driver was admitted to the Dikoya Base Hospital for treatment.

The Cab was severely damaged due to the head on collision accident it has been reported.Hatton Police are conducting an investigations over the incident.

Tressury Issued Rs.5 Miilon To The Agriculture Ministry To Purchase Unsold Pumpkin Harvest Of Farmers-A Private Food Chain Has Already Purchased A Large Amount Of Unsold Pumpkins

Image result for sri lanka pumpkinsThe Treasury Has issued Rs.5 Million to the Ministry Of Agriculture to purchase  the unsold harvest of Pumpkins of the farmers in many areas and issued it to the Market.

The Treasury has issued the funds to the Ministry as per a request made by the new Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera to prevent Pumpkin Farmers of becomes bankrupt it has been announced.

However one of the largest food chains in the country Cargills Private Limited had recently purchase a large stock of Pumpkin harvest to be sold through the Cargills Food Cities throughout the island and help the Pumpkin farmers to earn money from their harvest .Cargills Food Cities are currently involved in a special project of selling the purchased Pumpkin harvest of local farmers and under it every customer who have purchased goods worth more than Rs.750 from  Cargills Food Cities will be provided 500 Grammes of Pumpkin free of charge it has been reported.

Court Permission Given To FCID To Question Former Central Bank Governor Ajith Cabral Over A Finacial Irregularity

Related imageThe Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne had yesterday(08) given permission to the the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Unit (FCID) to question and record a statement from the former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivad Cabral over misappropriation of  state funds worth Rs.689 Million by creating a project to get the chance to host  this year's Commonwealth Games  in Hambanthota,Sri Lanka.
The fort magistrate has also granted permission to FCID to investigate the former Central Bank Governor's bank accounts.

The Project "TWD -Hambanthota " was created in 2012 during the previous government to get a chance to host this year's Commonwealth Games.However the chance of hosting the event was awarded to Gold Coast ,Australia. 

A Large Number Of Electrical Equipment Worth Millions Of Rupees Have Been Destroyed Due To A Sudden Fire Erupted In A Store Of A Duty Free Shop

A large number of Electrical Equipment worth Millions of Rupees have been destroyed due to a sudden fire erupted in a Store belonging to a Duty free shop of a Private Company in Katunayake,Bandaranaike International Airport this morning(09).

Due to the fire a large number of Electrical Equipment in the store including Television sets,Refrigerators ,Gas Cookers and Washing Machines have been burnt and destroyed and the toxic gas occurred as a result of the fire spreads to several areas of the building where the store is located it has been reported.

However the fire trucks arrived at the scene had doused the fire before spreading it further .The cause of the fire not yet been revealed.

Three Sluice gates of the Udawalawe Reservoir will be opened tonight (08)
due to the rising water levels of the Udawalawe reservoir caused due to the heavy showers prevailing in the area at present according to the Disaster Management Center.

Railway Trade Unions Have Postponed The Strike Scheduled Today Until Tomorrow(09)Noon

The strike scheduled to be launched by
the Train drivers from midnight tonight(08) has been postponed until 12 noon tomorrow (09) according to the Railway trade unions.

As the authorities have promised the Railway trade unions to submit a Cabinet paper to the Cabinet which due to meet tomorrow regarding the solving of salary anomaly problem demanded by them ,the strike action will be postponed the Trade Unions have stated.

Public In Central Hill Areas Were Advised To Be Vigilant Over Collapsing Of Soil Mounds And Rocks

The Disaster Management Center (DMC) has today (08) requested the Public lives in the Central Hill areas to be vigilant over a possible collapsing of Soil Mounds and Rocks in their areas due to the heavy showers prevailing in the Hills.

During the last 48 hours several incidents of  collapsing Soil Mounds and Rocks have been reported from several areas including Beragala and Haldummulla in Haputhale and Ella and Wellawaya in Badulla according to the Center.

Motorists and the pedestrians are being  advised to be vigilant when using the roads in these areas .

Sixteen SLFP MP's Who Had Resigned From The Government Had Crossed Over To The Opposition

The 16 SLFP MP's had crossed over to the Opposition from government bench amidst booing of the United National Party (UNP) MP's this morning when the Parliament met for the first time  after the Sinhalese and Hindu New Year .However the Opposition had welcomed the rebel MP's .

The second session of the eighth Parliament was ceremonially inaugurated today under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.

A Hotel Worker Arrested Over Attempting To Molest Two Foreign Females

Image result for arrestedPolice have arrested a hotel worker who had attempted to sexually assault two American Females in a Tourist Hotel at Uppuweli in Trincomalee yesterday (07) while they were preparing  to take their Lunch at the hotel.

The two females who are members of the World's largest floating Hospital Ship "Mercy" which arrived in Trincomalee  Barbour  for a goodwill mission had arrived in the Hotel to take their lunch at the time of the incident.

Police Fired Water Cannons To Disperse A Protest March Of An Unemployed Graduates Union

Police have fired water canons  to disperse a protest march conducted by the unemployed Graduates this noon(08) by demanding job opportunities in Government for all the unemployed graduates in the country near the Lotus Roundabout in Colombo.

More than 100 Unemployed Graduates have have attended the protest march and even after firing water cannons towards them protestors have seen remained near the Lotus Roundabout it has been reported.

The protest was organized by the Joint Unemployed Graduates Union and it was held after conducting a protest campaign demanding solution for the same demand in front of Colombo Fort Railway Station.

Due to the Protest March ,Police have closed the Lotus Road and the Galle Face Entry road for traffic.As a result heavy traffic had been prevailed in the area for hours.

Train Drivers To Launch A Strike From Midnight Tonight

Related imageTrain Drivers have decided to launch a continuous Strike from midnight tonight (08) after the talks held between Railway Trade Unions and Deputy Transport Minister Ashoka Abeysinghe along with Transport Ministry officials, over their demand had failed according to the Train Drivers Union.

The Train Drivers are demanding to solve their salary anomaly problem.However Deputy Transport Minister Ashok Abeysinghe has stated that during the talks he had requested the Unions a two week period to solve the problem .
