Sri Lanka Navy Have Arrested Seven Indian Fisheremen While Illegally Fishing In Sri Lankan Waters

indian fishermen fishing in sri lankan waters සඳහා පින්තුර ප්‍රතිඵලSri Lanka Navy with assistance of coast guards have arrested seven Indian Fishermen while illegally fishing in Sri Lankan waters at  North West of Delft Island(Northern Province) this morning(20) according to Navy sources.

Navy Officers have also taken into custody two fishing  trawlers along with the fishermen who arrived in from Jegadapattinam Hamlet in Pudukottai District,Tamil Nadu.

The arrested Indian fishermen and trawlers were handed over to the Assistant Fisheries Director in Jaffna  for future course of action the Navy sources have stated.

Government Pharmacists To Hold A Protest Campaign In Front Of The Health Ministry

Government Hospital Pharmacists have decided to
hold a protest campaign in front of Ministry Of Health in Colombo on this Wednesday (21)by demanding solutions for five of their service demands.

Accordingly Government Pharmacists are due to hold the protest campaign in front of Health Ministry from 11 a.m to 1 p.m the Government Pharmacists Union has announced.

Government To Import 10,000 Metric Tonnes Of Rice During Next Werk

Government is due to import 10,000 metric tonnes of
Samba and Nadu Rice to Sri Lanka during next week and will be issued to the consumers for Rs.50-60 per kilo gramme according to the Minister Of Rural Economy affairs P.Harrison.

The prices of Rice in the local market are on the rise according to the reports.

Due to this situation government has decided to issue 195,000 metric tonnes of paddy to the local market out of the 200,000 metric tonnes available in government stores .

The prices of Rice in local market  is on the increase due to some Rice Mill owners and businessmen had  created a fake Rice shortage in the market  Minister had Stated.

Internationally Renowned Sri Lankan Poet Anne Ranasimghe Passed Away

Internationally renowned German born Sri Lankan
poet Anne Ranasinghe nee "Katz" passed away on 17th of December  at the age of 91 it has been announced.

The late poet who was born in Essen ,Germany on 02nd of October 1925 ,became a citizen of Sri Labka in 1956 after she married a Sri Lankan Professor.

Her first collection of poems "And the sun that sucks the earth to dry" was published in 1971.During her career she has won numerous Local and International awards including Sri Lanka Arts Council prize for poetry in 1985 and 1992 and non fiction in 1987.

Late Anne Ranasinghe has also published short stories,essays and translations.She was born as Anneliese Katz and escaped from Germany to England during Nazi rule.


Post Master General Has Cancelled Leave Of All Postal Workers For 48 Hours

Post Master General has decided to cancel leave of all
postal workers with effect from midnight tonight (19) up to midnight of this wednesday (21).

Post Master General has taken this decision following the announcement made by Allied Joint Postal Unions Front  that they will launch a 48 hour strike with effect from midnight tonight by demanding solutions for seven of their service demands.

The aim of cancellation postal workers leave is to maintain postal service continuously.

Police Have Arrested Four Persons Who Slaughtered Goats At A Slaughter House In Bambalapitiya

ARRESTED සඳහා පින්තුර ප්‍රතිඵලBambalapitiya(Colombo) Police have raided an illegal goat slaughter house situated at Arthur Place in Baambalapitiya and arrested four persons who have slaughtered goats there.

During the raid Police have recovered 15 slaughtered goats and equipment at the house  it has been reported.

The four suspects who are residents of Kotahena area are due to be produced before the Hulftsdorf Magistrate Court this evening.

If The Authorities Of Tobacco Company Feels Cigarette Prices /Taxes Too High ,They Can Close The Company-Health Minister

tobacco සඳහා පින්තුර ප්‍රතිඵලIf the Tobacco Company feels the increasing of Cigarette Prices and Taxes are too much burden to bear ,the Company bosses are free to close their Company according to the Minister Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.

If the Tobacco Company has decided to close down the Company no one will opposing it Minister has stated.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the Newly built state  Pharmacy attached to State Pharmaceutical Corporation in Gampaha(Western Provence) Health Minister has stressed that not only from the various sectors in the country even  Good Governance(Yahaplanaya)opposed his decisions on increasing Cigarette prices and taxes.

"During the previous government former President Mahinda Rajapakshe has also taken the side of  the Tobacco Company .When current President Maithripala Sirisena has decided to publish health warnings related to smoking in a Cigarette Packet by covering  80% of the surface ,former President had clearly opposed the decision.Due to his influence the Supreme Court then decided to reduce the surface area of  a Cigarette Pack allocated for health warnings from 80% to 60% "Minister Dr.Senaratne has stated.

A Person Was Killed After Colliding With A Train At Ambalangoda

matara maradan train සඳහා පින්තුර ප්‍රතිඵලA person was killed due to colliding with a Train traveling from Matara to Maradana near the railway station in Madampagama,Ambalangoda (Southern Province)area today(19).

The deceased has been identified as a Mason who was a father of three children at Andurangoda,Madmapagama area.

Ambalangoda Police are conducting an investigation on the incident.

Bus Toppled Over At Somawathiya-Twnety Six Persons Were Injured And Hospitalized

accident සඳහා පින්තුර ප්‍රතිඵලTwenty Six persons were injured ,three critically and hospitalized as the Private Bus they were traveling in toppled over near a wild life office  at Somawathiya,Sungawila(North Central Province) area today(19).

The injured were admitted to the Polonnaruwa Base and Pulasthipura Hospitals for treatment.

The Bus was on the way to Somawathiya from Kegalle-Aranayake area at the time of the accident.
