A Sudden Fire Destroyed A Large Tyre Shop In Kelaniya

A large tyre shop located at 04 th Mile
post junction in Kelaniya had been destroyed due to a sudden fire erupted in the  shop last night  (24) it has been reported .

Due to the heavy  smoke released to the air by the fire one lane of Colombo -Kandy road had been temporary closed down from Kelaniya for traffic according to Police.

Fire fighters  have managed to  douse  the fire which spreads in large area .The cause of the fire has not yet been revealed .

been transferred with the approval Of National Police Commission according to the Police Headquarters.

Accordingly 11 Assistant Superintendent's Of Police (ASP),02 Superintendent's Of Police (SP)and a Senior Superintendent Of Police (SSP)had been transferred with immediate effect .

proposal submitted by Agriculture Minister Chamal Rajapakshe to purchase a Kilo Gramme of Paddy for Rs.50 it has been announced.

Cabinet has also approved a proposal to.purchase wet paddy Kilo for Rs.46 from farmers .

High Court Tribunal Judge Panel Had Released 13 Forner Navy Officers Charged Over Abduction And Dissapearence Of 11 Youth On Conditional Bail

Colombo High Court Tribunal Judge
panel had yesterday (24)released 13 out of 14 former Navy officers charged over abduction  and dissapearence of 11 youth residing in Kotahena  and Colombo suburbs in 2011 in view of taking ransoms ,on conditional bail whilst handing over indictments  against them .

Accordingly High Court Tribunal Judge panel had released the 13 suspects including the Forner Navy media Spokesman D.K.M.P Dassanayake on surety bail of Rs .2.5 million and  cash bails of Rs.500,000 each .

However the Judge panel had imposed a foreign travel ban on them and ordered to handover their passports to the court.

Judge panel had also ordered former Navy Commander Wasantha Karanna goda who is the 14 th suspect of the case to appear before the Judge panel on 07 th February as he had not appeared before the court yesterday.

High Court Judge had remanded the Retired Army Major Ajith Prasanna after he had appeared before the court yesterday accordance to the summons issued against him by the   court .

 The suspect is being charged over criticising several on going  court cases including a case filed against Former Magistrate Thilina Gamage during press briefing.

Attorney General who had filed the case against the suspect   had stated by criticising the ongoing court  cases suspect has attempted to influence the witnesses and judges of those cases.

Local Lawyers Staged A Protest In Front Of Colombo Chief Magistrate Court Against The Arrest Order Of High Court Judge Pilapitiya

Association had staged a silent protest
in front of the Colombo Chief Magistrate Court this noon (24)against the order made by Attorney General Dappula De Livera to arrest Embilipitiya High Court Judge Gihan Pilapitiya.

Accordingly Protesting lawyers have stressed hat the Attorney General Has no power to order an arrest of a High Court Judge. 'Dappula De Livera violates the law they have stated.

Attorney General had ordered the Colombo Crimes Division yesterday (23)to  arrest Judge Gihan Pilapitiya after obtaining an arrest warrant from.the court over having a telephone conversation with MP Ranjan Ramanayake .

SanjeewanI Pathirana has today (24) imposed Rs.50,000 fine over a 36 year old Russian National on riding a Motorcycle in Galle Town without a valid driving license in possession and under the influence of liquor .

The suspect Alexander Rovche had been arrested by the Traffic Police officers attached to Galle Police whilst riding the Motorcycle without the driving license and produced him before the court .
